The guy seems to come really close to the knife pretty often. Learned most of these techniques at Taekwon-do but doubt their effectivity. I'd go with the stuff I learned later on with Jeet Kune Do and Krav Maga. Block or obstruct => punch the nose or face while still holding the arm => twist 'n turn the wrist/arm/elbow/shoulder. Just my 2 cents

Yep, you're right. But you might not have enough room for those techniques either. Every situation is diffirent. Of course it is good to know many ways to defend, if I have choice (and no-one to protect) I prefer running over starting to disarm a guy with a knife. Learning unarmed techniques can save you some day , but won't make you invincible.
Note how slow the aggressor does his moves...

I would go with something like that too, BTW I'm getting an opportunity to attend some Krav Maga classes this summer I’m very excited :P

Take them man!! It's excellent. When I was on univ. there was an Israeli guy who was in the military on exchange and he lived in my housing unit. He learned me some stuff. Effective ****!

Nice... only problem is to remember that while i guy is trying to stick a knife in to you .
I really have a problem with this kind of excerices you presume you are ready to counter attack and that you see the agressor . That he will only try to stab you and while you throw him he will not grasp you by the arm, kick, bite etc.
The last major fight i was in started at a football match we were 8 and they were about 15 luckly they were stupid the thing started so quickly i didn`t have time to prepare miself it was all instinct.
One of my friends picked a rock and smashed a guys face in two seconds now tell me WHAT can prepare you for something like this ??

You're partly right. You can't prepare for something unexpected. But training for it can very much increase your chance of survival. By training certain reflexes, you will react the same way in real life. If someone takes a swing at you, you (if you trained it often) recognize the situation and block it and counter.

Some of these techniques may help you against unskilled opppenents but if you're facing a skilled knife fighter and you are unarmed, then your chances are cose to zero if you decide to stay and fight - best thing to do is run !!

I highly doubt any of those techniques will work at all. Wrestling has taught me many important things, and the most important is speed. Those techniques, with the exception of the fall back and shoot, cannot be used in the necessary speed to defend properly. When someone attacks you with a knife, they are going to wave it wildly and try to keep you from tracking it properly, there is no good way to defend against this except to keep your eyes on the opponent's chest or waist, the eyes can be decieving. The throws in the videos resemble the fireman's carry that we learn in wrestling, and this technique is almost never effective, most people will be fast enough to counter their weight against you and keep you from flipping them.

The most important thing in any fight is wrist control, by maintaining wrist control, you can force a defensive mood on your opponent. One way to effectively disarm an opponent is to quickly and forcefully hit his wrist with your hands going in opposite directions, this may injure his wrist and the force will send the weapon flying out of the opponent's hand. The next effective way to disable an opponent is to pancake him. When he lunges for you, grab his wrist, then grab the back of his neck and push him hard into the ground, this keeps his weapon under your control and puts him to the ground where you can then secure his hands behind his back. It may also break his nose against the ground, further disorienting him.

Those are just my opinions and techniques, feel free to critique them.

Many of these techniques remind of my ninjutsu training. But there are many other ways as well without any type of wrestling.

The problem with these thing is that you assume the opponent will come at you with the knife and attack you straight on. Most people I've seen fighting with knives have waved around with their weapons like some kind of windwill, theres no way you can really tell were the stab will go. The nly real thing you can do is run away, or attack him before he gets a focus on what to do
