Im not all knowing, did an essay couple months ago on the earths future in relation to overpopulation, starvation, and water shortages. Egypt has been attempting to reclaim desert land for farming since the early 90's and has failed miserably, temporarily creating lush land for about a year, getting the photographers in and letting it die again. Some areas have succeeded but very view.
For more information this is an excellent book, old but reliable information that shows you just how little anythings changed.

I would think it would be in Israel's best interest to maintain the status quo and help prop up Egypt if problems develop.
IF commodity price inflation and Egyptian birth rates continue to explode for a good few more years the risk of Egypt imploding and a popular fundamenalist takeover(a la Iran) would rise dramatically.
"President" Mubarak is almost as old as the pyramids, and his son as successor differs little from Kim in North Korea if political winds shift the wrong way....and "democracy" could see unintended consequences.
Problems related to demographics, water and food cannot be effectively countered with F16s.
I am no expert in the many causes for Iran's downfall.....but i'm guessing there are at least a few strong economic and political parallels with Egypt today.
Lots of focus on Iran and Pakistan.....not much on Egypt

Stop urban sprawl into productive fertile lands within the delta. Aswan is a very long way from the populated areas. It's going to cost money just to transport the produce.
Good luck.

Both the government and the islamic opposition will prefer their poors to eat sand before resorting to Israeli agricultural and water technologies.
