Hi the G36 has always been venerated by FPS nerds as being "German" and "modern",

however my friend (served in the US army before) who had shot a G36 said it's a f**k up by H&K since it costs two times as much as a m-4, has weak firepower (5.56) unlike its predecessor G3, adopts front side magazine design instead of bullpup, and has got an outdated 3x red dot scope (hasn't H&K heard of Optical Illuminum Technology?)

he said the G36 looks all modern but in fact it's only 80's stuff

there are many veterans and gun fanatics in this forums so i just wanna know is G36 really a joke by H&K? although what my friend said seemed to make sense , HK always seem to make outstanding small arms though

yep the same guy, however what he said seems to make sense though, non bull pup design? 3x red dot scope? costs 2x as much as a m-4?

i mean SIG and FN are already working on a new generation of assault rifles already...

since when bullpup design is a necessity for army rifles?
the German army G-36 has a dual combat-sight with 3x zoom scope and a reflex red dot scope - thats the standard bundeswehr configuration - there are export versions with 2.5(?) zoom scopes only i think - there are also versions with a rail where you can put anything you want.

its funny that your friend mentions the M4 rifle and then the 5,56mm caliber of the G-36.
5,56 × 45 mm is the standard NATO round and both M4 and G-36 (and many other assault rifles) use it.

Bullpub sucks. The comment on the caliber is funny as well and your friend fails to address the REAL issue with the standart optics which I´m not going to comment on now, since you don´t know anything about it anyway.
They can be replaced with other optics anyway. Apart from that the G36 is a very good rifle.

In short: Your friend talks out of his arse.

for whats its worth, one of my former units had some G-36's...only complaint I heard was that the sight had problems maintaining its Zero.

bullpup is sort of a necessity for urban combat

yes the 5.56 round of the G36 just proves that the G36 has nothing outstanding about it, why would you need such an expensive rifle when it performs just the same as a M-16 rifle
