Is there anyone who is an expert concerning bodyarmor. I have heard that the interceptor vest now used by the U.S. stops even rifle bullets calibre 7.62mm and weights only 8-9 kg for the vest both front and back!
It seems to me that the development of body armor and helmets is one of the most important changes at the moment as far as infantery and commando soldiers are concerned. Next to Land Warrior and equivalents of course!
What do You think ?

i found this on www.pointblankarmor.com
The Interceptor can hold up to two SAPI plates, each weighing 4 lbs. Each SAPI can be easily inserted into or removed from the front as well as the back of the vest.
The new SAPI plate will stop rounds as large as 7.62-mm. However, "it is not bulletproof," Church said. "If you shoot a big enough bullet, it is going to hurt, but it is a big step toward [being bulletproof]."
The plates will probably be kept in supply or in the armory - they will not be standard issue gear that is to be kept in a wall locker. "It will be kept under lock and key," Church said. It is important that Marines train with them, "but they are not for everyday use. You want to use those when you go into a hot spot," he said.

Why ARENT they for everyday field use? The recent report from afghanistan said this
"I would also recommend wearing the body armor during all training, I doubt if we'll ever fight without it again. It significantly affects everything that you do."
