I may not be correct but it seems to me every nation in the world that is troubled gets US Military help only plus noncombative support from other countries. Take the new Liberia problem. Who's going in to help the war torn nation? The US.

Wasnt a group of UN peacekeepers recently attacked in a nation in Africa asked for help but the UN denied it? I have no idea where I am going with this.... Just that it seems the US is the UN

ignorance my lad... :P

the trouble in africa you are talknig about... that was congo, french troops and south american UN troops are there now and no us troops...

in recent years, the british army have been in sierra leone to sort out the civil war there and the french army have been in cote d'ivoire (or one of those) and to my knowledge did not moan that they were the only country getting their hands dirty.

the reason why Britain sorted out sierra leone and France Cote d;Ivoire was because of colonial ties. Liberia is not a former colony but a country set up by (& for) freed american slaves, with the help of the US therefore it's closet tie is with the US which can easily spare the troops and money for this.

Just because the american press is so inward looking doesn't mean other conflicts aren't going on in the world and being solved by other first world powers. Do like other americans on this site and read international and foreign news sites.

Although US puts a lot of money into the UN, it does get it's priveliges from it. and Germany among others pays much more per capita then the US.

"New Liberia problem" - it's only new to you because the media has just been picking up on it. The strife and factionalized wars in that particular neck of the woods has been going hot and cold for many, many years.

Nearly seven years of civil war (1989-1996)crippled their economy
and an unsettled domestic security situation has slowed the process of rebuilding the social and economic structure of Liberia. Two years ago,
UN imposed sanctions on Liberian diamonds along with an army embargo
and a travel ban on government officials for Liberia's support of the rebel insurgency in Sierra Leone.

Also, there is a illicit drug transition issues (which is quite common in
that region)
