OTTAWA - Canadian Liberals do not like things military. In fact if the Liberals had their way, Canada’s military would no doubt be completely disbanded. So it’s not surprising they have attacked the moderate Conservative plan for renewing and restoring our armed forces.
Since 1993 Paul Martin and the Liberals have:
• Cut military funding by $20 billion.
• Slashed regular force personnel by over 20,000 members.
• Refused to replace 40 year-old Sea King helicopters.
• Refused to replace the Navy’s 30-year-old Iroquois Class ships.
Can a fire sale be far off?
Thanks to Paul Martin and the Liberals:
• Canada’s army is now smaller than the New York Police Department.
• Canadian soldiers have been forced to collect welfare.
• Canadian troops have been sent into desert war zones wearing jungle fatigues.
• Canada will soon join Luxembourg as the only NATO military without tanks.
• Canada has no strategic sea or air lift capabilities.
• Canadian personnel in Afghanistan are driving dune buggies instead of armoured jeeps.
Underpaid, understaffed, under-equipped, the men and women of our armed forces deserve better.

I think you've proven your a Liberal.
I think you have proven that you are one stupid ****.
Shut up until you come up with something pointful to say.
Liberal, you even know what that means?. Do you even know who the leader is for that party?-No idiot not party with drinking and all the recreational drugs you do. The political party.
Yes unfortunately the ones who abused and raped my vote/voice in a way that I didnt authorize them. The ones that are killing off the military one by one, dollar by dollar.
Those assholes who dont give a **** about our soldiers sitting in some ****hole while they are wining and dining at Sussex drive. And getting to give their friends contracts for millions of dollars those soldiers in a ****hole could have needed.
Oh yeah I think there is one other thing that we are missing in Canada. A Prime minister who has actually served in the military.
Anyway, needless to say the liberals are the worst on military affairs, whereas the conservatives are pretty much worse on, well everything else. Let alone their image problem with unlikable characters like Stockwell day- sorry that was aliance :-) Or Clark. But maybe next time we should vote NDP.
Sorry for the rage peeps, but I cant stand this stereotyipcal, stupid " My god its a liberal, head for cover, bring out the bombs stuff."

I Agree, Canada's soldiers do deserve better.
However, that list is fairly inaccuret/misleading in it's wording.
• Refused to replace 40 year-old Sea King helicopters.
• Refused to replace the Navy’s 30-year-old Iroquois Class ships.
Refused? Not so much. Pushed it from it's agenda would be more accuret. the Iroquois really haven't come up at all, where as the SK's, well...
• Canadian troops have been sent into desert war zones wearing jungle fatigues.
This, I believe they've said, is a deliberate move. They're there to be seen. Nothing's more see-able than a guy walking around in TW CADPAT... unless it's night time, lol.
• Canadian personnel in Afghanistan are driving dune buggies instead of armoured jeeps.
I didn't know we deployed Dune Buggies in A-stan. "armored jeeps?". Nope, they have the Benz over there now, eh? I'd rather a M.B than a Jeep, lol.

Helicopter point : Chretien that shawanigan moron , decided the EH-101 ( I think it was those, pls correct if misinformation ) were too expensive. Big points with the anti-military leftists.
Iltis point: The iltis are soft skinned vehicles. They are definately far from new technology , as far as stats go. Yet if you want armoured vehicles you need money, money which has been bled dry from the CF. And most armoured humvees for instance are armoured against small arms fire, and not against three antitank mines laid together into a mine/IED.
The Cf needs to get those gwagons to the people asap,
oh yeah, not to the generals who drive around their bases and compounds, to the soldiers out in the dusty streets.

That _IS_ incorrect, some of the new countries from Eastern Europe have no tanks also.

Actually they did refuse to replace them. They already had a contract to replace them but one of the first things Crouton did when he got in office was cancel the contract, calling them the "Cadillac of helicopters". The Iroquios haven't really been that big of a deal, becuase they're not falling out of the sky and killing their pilots.
• Canadian troops have been sent into desert war zones wearing jungle fatigues.
This, I believe they've said, is a deliberate move. They're there to be seen. Nothing's more see-able than a guy walking around in TW CADPAT... unless it's night time, lol.
It's true they were sent to be seen on their current operation like you said to be seen. But on Operation Apollo (the one after 9/11), they were sent in green cam even though the americans offered to outfit them in their desert cam but the government was afraid it would make our soldiers look too american to the public. I don't think they wanted to be seen when they're in a war.

I'm pretty sure they are still driving the Iltis, and that the G Wagons are fully delivered yet.
So the list is quite accurate.

As for the point about the army being smaller then the NYPD.
How many police officers are there in NYPD?
There are currently 39,110 police officers in NYPD. This is the total number of Police Officers, Detectives, Sergeants, Lieutenants, Captains, Deputy Inspectors, Inspectors, Deputy Chiefs, Assistant Chiefs, and Bureau Chiefs budgeted for fiscal year 2003.
That is more people then there currently is in the army. (Not counting the reserves.)
NYPD (http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/html/misc/pdfaq2.html#41)
That may even be more then there is in the army and navy or the army and airforce. :cantbeli:
