On 12 April 2007, DND confirmed rumours (http://www.sfu.ca/casr/bg-leopard2-afghan.htm) that Canada would acquire ‘new’ Leopard tanks. As reported in Der Spiegel, Canada will first lease 20 mine-protected Leopard 2 A6Ms from Bundeswehr stocks. But the follow-on purchase will not be for German tanks. Instead, 100 “slightly used” tanks will be supplied by the Dutch – the order is for 20 Leopard 2 A6s and 80 early Leopard 2 A4s, all refurbished.

Good, Canada needs better amrour. As well, we need to replace our aging fleet of CF-18's. I think Canada should invest in the Dassault Rafale in the mean time with a few numbers, then just buy into the F-35, since we are in the joint production program. Too bad though, Canada should just invest entirely and reconstruct the Avero Aero but with today's standards. That plane would have kicked all other planes ass if it wasn't for Deifenbaker.

I think you need to stop posting.

And I think you should shut up. I am not the only one agrees on the same thing. I have talked to others who is serving in the Air force, and they prefer to replace these planes.

Question

Alfa

Technically no. The newly formed Canadian Special Operations Regiment (CSOR) is suppose to be the modern incarnation of the SSF since they have been approved to accept the battle honours of the SSF. Because JTF-2 isn't a regiment they weren't able to accept the honours.

From what I understand the creation of CSOR will allow JTF-2 to focus more closely on its anti-terrorism duties and CSOR will take over for most out of country actions.

BTW, I REEAAAALLLLLY want those posters. Really.

I'm waiting for a certain someone to join this thread, mention how his friend tried out for the poster, complain about the fact there are no Hummers in the posters, and rant on about the "American" helmets.

The JTF2 is what used to be SERT in the RCMP. That's what I read about.

CSOR and JTF2 are closely related, but they do their own things appart. That's what I understood from a conference with a CSOR member.

poster was probably contracted out and models from an airsoft/paintball/milsim team were recruited. only the shadow knows...
I don't like the pics of JTF2...cool pics tend to attract the cool guys....but then they need to get everyone out to meet their goals I guess.

Never. Not after that somalia inquiry. Any pictures of JTF2 in action and parliament will want to know what's up with their missions which puts civilian Canadians at risk of terrorism.

Well, not exactly. CSOR is perpetuating the FSSF (First Special Service Force) of Second World War fame (remember the joint Canadian/US special force). The SSF was the post war Canadian organization that included the Canadian Airborne Regiment (as well as other combat and support units that were capable of parachuting into action) and was disbanded in 1995. The FSSF and SSF were two very different and distinct organizations.
