Dr Farrukh Saleem
Afghanistan, Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Guinea, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sudan, Somalia, Tunisia, Turkey, Yemen, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Syria, UAE, Sierra Leone, Bangladesh, Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Comoros, Iraq, Maldives, Djibouti, Benin, Brunei, Nigeria, Azerbaijan, Albania, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Mozambique, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Suriname, Togo, Guyana and Côte d'Ivoire are all Muslim-majority states. Can you name the one -- and the only -- Muslim-majority state where Muslims blew up the Danish embassy killing at least eight other Muslims?
Why, why Pakistan? I don't have all the answers, and I am sure no one does. But, please have a look at what the Punjab Textbook Board is teaching eleven-year old Pakistanis. Here is a paragraph from the Social Studies textbook for Class 7, page 43 (written by Professor Dr M H Bokhari and Syed Hassan Tahir):
"European nations have been working during the past three centuries, through conspiracies on naked aggression to subjugate the countries of the Muslim world."
Here is a paragraph that was not part of the previous year's Pakistan Studies but has been inserted in the textbook for the current academic year. This text was written by Muhammad Hussain Chaudhry, Ali Iqtadar Mirza, Sheikh Anees, Rai Faiz Ahmad Kharal, Syed Abbas Haidar and Dr Qais. This is for students of Class 9 and appears on page 3:
"The economic system of (the) west was creating unsolvable problems and had failed to do justice with the people."
Thirteen- and fourteen-year-old students of Pakistan Studies are being taught that "one of the reasons of the downfall of the Muslims in the sub-continent was the lack of the spirit of jihad (Class 9-10; Pakistan Studies, page 7)."
Imagine; thirteen-year-old Pakistanis are being taught that "In Islam jihad is very important…..The person who offers his life never dies….All the prayers nurture one's passion of jihad (Class 9-10; Pakistan Studies, page 10)."
Look at what Dr Sultan Khan, Muhammad Farooq Malik, Rai Faiz Ahmad Kharal, Muhammad Hussain Chaudhry and Khadim Ali Khan are teaching sixteen-year-old Pakistanis: "Always keep oneself ready to sacrifice one's life and property is jihad…..The basic purpose of all submissions and jihad is to keep oneself follower of the good will of Allah Almighty (Class 12; Pakistan Studies, page 4)."
At the tender age of 10, Pakistani students are discovering what the British had done to them. "The British sent rare books from these libraries to England. Thus the British ruined the Muslim schools. They did not want that Islam should spread (Class 6; Social Studies, page 99)." This text was scripted and translated by Professor Mian Muhammed Aslam, Professor Muhammed Farooq Malik and Qazi Sajjad Ahmed.
Look at the remarkable breakthrough achieved by of our learned Professor Dr M H Bokhari and Syed Hassan Tahir. In a total of 36 words, the duo has managed to capture the cause of the crusades: "History has no parallel to the extremely kind treatment of the Christians by the Muslims. Still the Christian kingdoms of Europe were constantly trying to gain control of Jerusalem. This was the cause of the crusades (Class 7; Social Studies, page 25)."
It seems as if our ministry of education is grooming our children for death rather than for life. The examples quoted above are all out of our federal ministry of education's curriculum designed by the curriculum wing. I agree that nine-, ten- and eleven-year-old students after reading these textbooks are not going to go and blow themselves up but the federal ministry of education is certainly creating a thoroughly militarized society. In that sense, our curriculum appears to have been deliberately designed to facilitate the usurpation of genuine educational space by forces of hate, violence and that of extremism. What we have is a primary and secondary school environment consciously manufactured to nurture terror, promote prejudice and breed extremism.
Our 'Curriculum of hate' is, hopefully, not producing suicide bombers but it is definitely breeding closet bombers who wholeheartedly support the ideals of suicide bombers being produced elsewhere. In essence, the two -- suicide bombers and closet bombers -- have a strange symbiotic relationship whereby the parasite cannot survive without a receptive host. And, the receptive host is all around us -- courtesy the ministry of education, government of Pakistan. Why is our ministry of education so bent upon preparing our kids for death and not for life?

And we all wonder WHY? Is War on Terror being fought in the right battleground?

Petro-dollars funding Islamic Wahhabism hasnt stopped, nor has the training facilities in Pakistan, it is in the guise of kashmir fight. Pakistan is a hate state, it survives on that, these textbooks little kids learn itself, shows what they consider priority in their country.

The passages below -- drawn from the same set of Saudi texts proudly cited in the new 74-page review of curriculum reform now being distributed by the Saudi Embassy -- are shaping the views of the next generation of Saudis and Muslims worldwide. Unchanged, they will only harden and deepen hatred, intolerance and violence toward other faiths and cultures. Is this what Riyadh calls reform?
religion@freedomhouse.org
FIRST GRADE
" Every religion other than Islam is false."
"Fill in the blanks with the appropriate words (Islam, hellfire): Every religion other than ______________ is false. Whoever dies outside of Islam enters ____________."
FOURTH GRADE
"True belief means . . . that you hate the polytheists and infidels but do not treat them unjustly."
FIFTH GRADE
"Whoever obeys the Prophet and accepts the oneness of God cannot maintain a loyal friendship with those who oppose God and His Prophet, even if they are his closest relatives."
"It is forbidden for a Muslim to be a loyal friend to someone who does not believe in God and His Prophet, or someone who fights the religion of Islam."
"A Muslim, even if he lives far away, is your brother in religion. Someone who opposes God, even if he is your brother by family tie, is your enemy in religion."
SIXTH GRADE
"Just as Muslims were successful in the past when they came together in a sincere endeavor to evict the Christian crusaders from Palestine, so will the Arabs and Muslims emerge victorious, God willing, against the Jews and their allies if they stand together and fight a true jihad for God, for this is within God's power."
EIGHTH GRADE
"As cited in Ibn Abbas: The apes are Jews, the people of the Sabbath; while the swine are the Christians, the infidels of the communion of Jesus."
"God told His Prophet, Muhammad, about the Jews, who learned from parts of God's book [the Torah and the Gospels] that God alone is worthy of worship. Despite this, they espouse falsehood through idol-worship, soothsaying, and sorcery. In doing so, they obey the devil. They prefer the people of falsehood to the people of the truth out of envy and hostility. This earns them condemnation and is a warning to us not to do as they did."
"They are the Jews, whom God has cursed and with whom He is so angry that He will never again be satisfied [with them]."
"Some of the people of the Sabbath were punished by being turned into apes and swine. Some of them were made to worship the devil, and not God, through consecration, sacrifice, prayer, appeals for help, and other types of worship. Some of the Jews worship the devil. Likewise, some members of this nation worship the devil, and not God."
"Activity: The student writes a composition on the danger of imitating the infidels."
NINTH GRADE
"The clash between this [Muslim] community (umma) and the Jews and Christians has endured, and it will continue as long as God wills."
"It is part of God's wisdom that the struggle between the Muslim and the Jews should continue until the hour [of judgment]."
"Muslims will triumph because they are right. He who is right is always victorious, even if most people are against him."
TENTH GRADE
The 10th-grade text on jurisprudence teaches that life for non-Muslims (as well as women, and, by implication, slaves) is worth a fraction of that of a "free Muslim male." Blood money is retribution paid to the victim or the victim's heirs for murder or injury:
"Blood money for a free infidel. is half of the blood money for a male Muslim, whether or not he is 'of the book' or not 'of the book' (such as a pagan, Zoroastrian, etc.).
"Blood money for a woman: Half of the blood money for a man, in accordance with his religion. The blood money for a Muslim woman is half of the blood money for a male Muslim, and the blood money for an infidel woman is half of the blood money for a male infidel."
ELEVENTH GRADE
"The greeting 'Peace be upon you' is specifically for believers. It cannot be said to others."
"If one comes to a place where there is a mixture of Muslims and infidels, one should offer a greeting intended for the Muslims."
"Do not yield to them [Christians and Jews] on a narrow road out of honor and respect."
TWELFTH GRADE
"Jihad in the path of God -- which consists of battling against unbelief, oppression, injustice, and those who perpetrate it -- is the summit of Islam. This religion arose through jihad and through jihad was its banner raised high. It is one of the noblest acts, which brings one closer to God, and one of the most magnificent acts of obedience to God."

A MANIFESTO FOR MURDER (HAMAS CHARTER)

A manifesto for murder

VIA AGGIE
MUCH HAS been said about the Hamas charter's call for the destruction of Israel and the need for Hamas to renounce this goal as the condition for being granted international legitimacy, economic aid and diplomatic recognition.
But an examination of the charter (available at http://www.palestinecenter.org/cpap/documents/charter.html ) reveals that Hamas, also known as the Islamic Resistance Movement, is not just dedicated (however wrongly or murderously) to the destruction of Israel. It shows Hamas to be governed by a Nazi-like genocidal orientation to Jews in general.
It would be no surprise if a self-styled Palestinian liberation movement depicted Israel in unflattering or even (if we indulge the movement some license to exaggerate) venomous terms. Yet Hamas' 9,000-word charter of 1988 — repeatedly reconfirmed by its leaders — pits Jews, Israelis and Zionists (used pretty much interchangeably in the charter) in Manichaean conflict, not just with Palestinians, but with Islam, which to Hamas is synonymous with all goodness.
"Israel, by virtue of its being Jewish and of having a Jewish population, defies Islam and the Muslims," Article 28 of the charter says. This otherwise stunning statement is not surprising, given that Hamas describes Jews and Israel as a cosmic evil. Almost mimicking Nazi textbooks, Hamas contends that Zionism does "not hesitate to take any road, or to pursue all despicable and repulsive means to fulfill its desires." And what are those desires? "To demolish societies, to destroy values, to wreck answerableness, to totter virtues and to wipe out Islam. It stands behind the diffusion of drugs and toxics of all kinds in order to facilitate its control and expansion." (Article 28)
Hamas sees Jews as extremely malevolent and also extremely powerful, capable of achieving their desires. In a hallucinatory anti-Semitic passage recalling the most extreme Nazi ideologues, the charter asserts that the Jews amassed wealth that permitted them to "take over control of the world media such as news agencies, the press, publication houses, broadcasting and the like. [They also used this] wealth to stir revolutions in various parts of the globe in order to fulfill their interests and pick the fruits. They stood behind the French and the Communist Revolutions and behind most of the revolutions we hear about here and there." (Article 22)
Pursuing this hallucinatory reverie (among the clandestine organizations the Jews allegedly use to take over the world, "Rotary Clubs" are highlighted), Hamas' charter then describes Jewish power and malevolence as still more sinister: The Jews "used the money to take over control of the Imperialist states and made them colonize many countries in order to exploit the wealth of those countries and spread their corruption therein…. They stood behind World War I, so as to wipe out the Islamic Caliphate …. They obtained the Balfour Declaration and established the League of Nations in order to rule the world by means of that organization. They also stood behind World War II, where they collected immense benefits from trading with war materials and prepared for the establishment of their state."
As if this wild, anti-Semitic litany, which includes Jews establishing the United Nations as part of their plan for world domination, is insufficient, Hamas declares that "there was no war that broke out anywhere without their fingerprints on it." (Article 22)
With how much power will the Jews be satisfied? According to Hamas, "Zionist scheming has no end, and after Palestine they will covet expansion from the Nile to the Euphrates. Only when they have completed digesting the area on which they will have laid their hand, they will look forward to more expansion, etc. Their scheme has been laid out in the Protocols of the Elders of Zion." (Article 32)
Faced with this demonic enemy, Hamas is determined to rouse the Islamic world to act in the only manner adequate to the danger. Negotiation, compromise, any permanent modus vivendi with Israel and Jews (Jews' very existence in Israel is deemed an affront against Islam), is not thinkable. Jihad and destruction is. Proclaiming every inch of Palestine, including all of Israel, to be Palestinian and Islamic, and in accord with its demonic view of Jews, the charter declares, "[Peace] initiatives, the so-called peaceful solutions, and the international conferences to resolve the Palestinian problem, are all contrary to the beliefs of the Islamic Resistance Movement."
Why? Because "renouncing any part of Palestine means renouncing part of the religion; the nationalism of the Islamic Resistance Movement is part of its faith, the movement educates its members to adhere to its principles and to raise the banner of Allah over their homeland as they fight their Jihad." (Article 13)
So what is left for Hamas and all Muslims to do? Despite Hamas' pro-forma statement that "humane" Hamas will tolerate Jews and Christians only under the impossible condition that they live under Islamic fundamentalist domination (Article 31), the genocidal logic of Hamas' foundational document is explicit: "Hamas has been looking forward to [implementing] Allah's promise whatever time it might take. The prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him! This will not apply to the Gharqad, which is a Jewish tree." (Article 7)
This is no selective reading of Hamas' charter, as the extensive quotations indicate. The charter's almost classically Nazi accounts of Jews and its annihilative reveries form the core of Hamas' uncompromising and divinely ordained canonical version of the Declaration of Independence.
As a lifelong student of Nazism and its radical murderousness, I have always been extremely reluctant to use the epithet "Nazi" for other reprehensible, anti-Semitic or genocidal movements. Whatever the other differences, the anti-Semitism and the murderous logic that form the principal content and rhetorical structure and substructure of this charter and this political party are unmistakably Nazi-like with regard to Jews.
Imagine if a territory or country next to the United States, Germany, France or Britain were governed by a political party that had repeatedly terrorized and murdered citizens of its neighbor, and had issued a governing charter about Americans, Germans, French or Britons that described the people of that country as Hamas describes Jews — calling not only for that country's destruction but also for the mass murder of its people.
Would people in that country accept the threatening political party as a fit partner in peace? Would people say that a political party harboring such profoundly irrational beliefs, fomenting such uncompromising hatred and speaking the language of mass murder should receive international aid that could only further its hold on power and facilitate its murderous intentions?
Hamas' charter should not be dismissed as just words, and all that it contains would not be nullified even if Hamas, under pressure, renounced its goal to destroy Israel. (So far, Hamas has adamantly defended its genocidal charter.)
Seldom in the modern world has a political party enshrined such hallucinatory hatred and overt murderousness against another people in its constitution, and more seldom still has such a party taken power. The Nazi Party Program of 1920 also contained much anti-Semitism, but compared to Hamas' charter, its demonology and prescriptions were tame. Given the extreme political costs of such speech, governments, political parties and political leaders rarely speak the language of annihilation openly. So when they do, we should take them at their word. The last 100 years have shown that those expressing murderous dreams, like Hitler, mean it.

Iran schools feed pupils "war curriculum" - report
Tue 30 Jan 2007 12:09 PM ET
By Mark John
BRUSSELS, Jan 30 (*******) - Iran's schools are nurturing a siege mentality in children with textbooks showing preparations for war and depicting Israel and the West as the enemy, an Israel-based think tank said on Tuesday.
One textbook gave 13-year-olds a basic overview of light arms while one early reader book depicted the murder of a Palestinian toddler by an Israeli soldier, a survey by the Center for Monitoring the Impact of Peace (CMIP) found.
"Iran's war curriculum is a danger to the world's peace and security. This is the way the books develop a siege mentality in the minds of the students," CMIP director of research Arnon Groiss told a news conference in Brussels.
CMIP has produced surveys of school material in Pakistan and the Palestinian Authority and said its survey of 115 textbooks published in Iran in 2004 was the first of its kind.
Groiss said all the textbooks were underpinned by the belief that Iran was a world power preparing for global "jihad", or holy struggle, with the aim of world dominance of Islam.
"This has been a structural component of the Iranian regime since (the Islamic Revolution in) 1979. It is not a product of (Mahmoud) Ahmadinejad," he said of Iran's firebrand president who has called for the destruction of Israel.
Stories and poems aimed at primary school-age children hailed martyrs killed in defence of their country and faith, such as those who died in the 1980 to 1988 war with Iraq, with one illustrated with a rainbow dripping with martyr's blood.
Akbar Nabavi, an Iranian war veteran and now documentary maker, said the report was intended to misrepresent Iran.
"The American nation respects its soldiers and their cause though they are being killed in a foreign land (Iraq), thousands of miles from home," he said. "Why shouldn't we commemorate the sacrifice of our martyrs killed defending their country and their faith?"
MILITARY TACTICS
Groiss highlighted one passage in a reading book for eight-year-olds:
"At that time the Israeli officer pounded (three-year-old) Mohammed's head with his rifle stock and his warm blood was sprinkled upon his (six-year-old) brother Khaled's hands."
Another picture book for 10-year-olds showed veiled girls carrying rifles while material for 13-year-olds provided a basic acquaintance with weaponry, explosives and military tactics.
Israel was consistently referred to as "the regime that occupies Jerusalem" and marked out on maps as "Occupied Palestine". The United States was the "Great Satan", the "World Devourer" or the "Arrogant One".
Despite official opposition to the U.S. government, many Iranians remain sympathetic to the American people and held spontaneous vigils to show support for them after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
Groiss acknowledged he had no recent information on the influence the textbooks were having on Iranian children.
While the concept of martyrdom is central to the Shi'ite Islam which is predominant in Iran, no Iranians are thought to have directly executed suicide bombings in recent years.
However, one Iranian group, which insists it has no government affiliation, says it has signed up thousands of would-be martyrs to target U.S. or British interests if Iran was attacked over its nuclear programme.

Textbook Jihad in Egypt By Andrew G. Bostom (http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/authors.aspx?GUID=969ed400-8dc7-4f67-9029-7448a5f2d5a1)
FrontPageMagazine.com | Wednesday, June 30, 2004
A "mock beheading" video located at radical Sheikh Abu Hamza's website (www.shareeah.org (http://www.shareeah.org/) ), which featured three young Muslim boys who pretended to behead a fourth 1, has elicited the appropriate public revulsion. But little fanfare, let alone outrage, has accompanied the release of a detailed study of Egyptian children's textbooks, whose inculcation of anti-infidel hatred is potentially far more damaging. 2 For example, explicit sanctioning for jihad-related beheadings is provided in a seemingly pedestrian manner,
"Studies in Theology: Tradition and Morals, Grade 11, (2001) pp. 291-92 ...This noble [Qur'anic] Surah [Surat Muhammad]... deals with questions of which the most important are as follows: 'Encouraging the faithful to perform jihad in God's cause, to behead the infidels, take them prisoner, break their power, and make their souls humble - all that in a style which contains the highest examples of urging to fight. You see that in His words: "When you meet the unbelievers in the battlefield strike off their heads and, when you have laid them low, bind your captives firmly. Then grant them their freedom or take a ransom from them, until war shall lay down its burdens.'"
"Commentary on the Surahs of Muhammad, Al-Fath, Al-Hujurat and Qaf, Grade 11, (2002) p. 9 …When you meet them in order to fight [them], do not be seized by compassion [towards them] but strike the necks powerfully.... Striking the neck means fighting, because killing a person is often done by striking off his head. Thus, it has become an expression for killing even if the fighter strikes him elsewhere. This expression contains a harshness and emphasis that are not found in the word "kill", because it describes killing in the ugliest manner, i.e., cutting the neck and making the organ - the head of the body - fly off [the body].' "
Although chilling to our modern sensibilities, particularly when being taught to children, these are merely classical interpretations of the rules for jihad war, based on over a millennium of Muslim theology and jurisprudence.3 And the context of these teachings is unambiguous, as the translator makes clear:
"[the] concept of jihad is interpreted in the Egyptian school curriculum almost exclusively as a military endeavor… it is war against God's enemies, i.e., the infidels… it is war against the homeland's enemies and a means to strengthening the Muslim states in the world. In both cases, jihad is encouraged, and those who refrain from participating in it are denounced."
Teaching Egyptian school children anti-infidel jihad hatred is clearly a long, ongoing , and ignoble tradition even within the modern era. As the scholar E. W. Lane reported after several years of residence in both Cairo and Luxor (initially in 1825-1828, then in 1833-1835),
"I am credibly informed that children in Egypt are often taught at school, a regular set of curses to denounce upon the persons and property of Christians, Jews, and all other unbelievers in the religion of Mohammad.”4
Lane translated the prayer below from a contemporary 19th century text Arabic text, containing a typical curse on non-Muslims, recited daily by Muslim schoolchildren:
“I seek refuge with God from Satan the accursed. In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful. O God, aid El-Islam, and exalt the word of truth, and the faith, by the preservation of thy servant and the son of thy servant, the Sultan of the two continents (Europe and Asia), and the Khakan (Emperor or monarch) of the two seas [the Mediterranean and Black Seas], the Sultan, son of the Sultan (Mahmood) Khan (the reigning Sultan when this prayer was composed). O God, assist him, and assist his armies, and all the forces of the Muslims: O Lord of the beings of the whole world. [I]O God, destroy the infidels and polytheists, thine enemies, the enemies of the religion. O God, make their children orphans, and defile their abodes, and cause their feet to slip, and give them and their families, and their households and their women and their children and their relations by marriage and their brothers and their friends and their possessions and their race and their wealth and their lands as booty to the Muslims: O Lord of the beings of the whole world.”(Emphasis added.) 5
The seminal modern scholar of Islamic civilization, S.D. Goitein, warned more than a century later, in 1949, speaking of the Arab world generally, in particular Egypt:
“Islamic fanaticism…is now openly encouraged…writers whose altogether Western style (was mentioned earlier) have been vying with each other for some time in compiling books on the heroes and virtues of Islam…What has now become possible in educated circles may be gathered from the following quotation from an issue of the ‘New East’, an Arab monthly periodical describing itself as the ‘organ of the academic youth of the East’[emphasis added]:
‘Let us fight fanatically for our religion; let us love a man-because he is a Moslem; let us honor a man- because he is a Moslem; let us prefer him to anyone else-because he is a Moslem; and never let us make friends with unbelievers, because they have nothing but evil for us.’6
And a decade later, in 1958, Lebanese Law Professor Antoine Fattal, perhaps the greatest scholar of the legal condition of non-Muslims living under the Shari'a, lamented,
"No social relationship, no fellowship is possible between Muslims and dhimmis...Even today, the study of the jihad is part of the curriculum of all the Islamic institutes. In the universities of Al-Azhar, Nagaf, and Zaitoune, students are still taught that the holy war is a binding prescriptive decree, ****ounced against the Infidels, which will only be revoked with the end of the world..." [Emphasis added]
Sadly, almost fifty years after Fattal made his observations, the sacralized hatred of jihad is still being inculcated as part of the formal education of Muslim youth in Egypt, the most populous Arab country, and throughout the Arab Muslim, and larger non-Arab Muslim world. We in the West must press our political and religious leaders to demand that such bellicose, hate-mongering "educational" practices be abolished in Islamic nations, under threat of severe, broad ranging economic sanctions.

Jihad and Martyrdom as taught in Saudi Arabian and Egyptian schools
Submitted by admin on 21 June, 2005 - 13:07.
Victims of Jihad 2005 (http://www.iheu.org/unchr2005)
David G. Littman
In my accompanying article, just published 1, I quoted from Edward Lane's classic description on Jews and Christians, published in 1836. One may ask 170 years later: what is being taught currently to Muslim children in Saudi Arabian and Egyptian schools, specifically on the subject of the "infidels" - especially in relation to concepts like traditional "Jihad and Martyrdom"?
In August - at the 56th session of the UN Sub-Commission on Human Rights (http://www.iheu.org/glossary/term/420) - the Association for World Education circulated to that body's 26 members, and to many State and NGO (http://www.iheu.org/glossary/term/251) observers, two 100 page reports on school textbooks, published by the Jerusalem Center for Monitoring the Impact of Peace (CMIP): The West, Christians and Jews in Saudi Arabian Schoolbooks (2003); and Jews, Christians, War and Peace in Egyptian School Textbooks (2004).2
Need I stress, that school textbooks are one of the most crucial means by which a nation passes on to the younger generation a certain worldview, determined according to parameters set by the educational establishment. As such, they open a window on to what the education system in a specific country wishes to instil in students' minds.
Saudi Arabia: CMIP analysis of 93 school textbooks: most from 1999-2000 & 2001
In regard to school textbooks in Saudi Arabia, the survey includes an outlook on Christianity and the West. There, Islam is presented as the only true religion, while all others are presented as false. Islam leads its followers to paradise, whereas all others lead their believers to destruction in hell. Saudi children are taught that they are superior, as Muslims, in both this world and the next. Christians and Jews are explicitly denounced as infidels, and are also called the enemies of Islam and Muslims. They should not be befriended, nor emulated in any way, as this is strictly forbidden. The West is the source of evil that has afflicted the Muslim world. Western democracy is totally rejected.
As for "the Jews," the report cites religious references to them as a wicked nation - in their relations with Arabs and Muslims, and in the context of world history. Their disappearance is, therefore, desirable. Israel is not recognised as a State, and a Middle East peaceful solution is not advocated. Rather war, Jihad and martyrdom is exhorted as a religious duty. Even the 100-year old fraudulent Protocols of the Elders of Zion is referred to with emphasis as an authentic work
A French edition of CMIP's report on Saudi Arabian schoolbooks has a preface by Antoine Sfeir, director of the Cahiers de l'Orient and author of Dictionnaire mondiale de l'Islamism (http://www.iheu.org/glossary/term/255)e in which he gives a warning:
At a time when the Islamist terrorist threat to Europe is becoming clearer, it is urgent to fully understand one of its essential components: the Islamic Wahhabite ideology. This ideology, whose principal target is Western civilization - that is to say, democracy and modernity - is known only to a few specialists. It seems to be largely ignored by the media, as it is by the political class.3
Egypt: CMIP analysis of 103 school textbooks - most from 2002, some 1999-2001
Our Association (The Association for World Education) decided to limit its presentation at the last UN Sub-Commission on Human Rights to the CMIP's report on Egypt alone, while avoiding controversial political issues such as the "Middle East Peace Process," and only addressing one crucial subject: "Jihad & Martyrdom" - taught in Egyptian primary / preparatory / secondary schools text books - the title of our written statement E/CN.4/Sub.2/2004/NGO/17), an official NGO document at the 56th session (26 July-13 Aug. 2004).
A description of Jihad in Grade 11 from an al-Azhar schoolbook makes compelling reading:
[One] of the rules derived by the [religious] scholars from these [Qur'anic] verses is the following: 1. Obligation to fight the infidels with utmost vigor and power until they become weak, their state disappears and they submit to the rule of the law of Islam.
And it is again the al-Azhar teaching curriculum that goes to the root of these bloody lessons, with pious justifications offered to Grade 11 students concerning the reasons for beheading infidels:
When you meet them in order to fight [them], do not be seized by compassion [toward them], but strike the[ir] necks powerfully...Striking the neck means fighting, because killing a person is often done by striking off his head...This expression contains a harshness and emphasis that are not found in the word "kill", because it describes killing in the ugliest manner, "i.e. cutting the neck and making the organ - the head of the body - fly off [the body]."
This was the tragic fate of journalist Daniel Pearl three years ago in Pakistan, beheaded in a traditional Jihad-war tactic that was soon to became 'normal' in Iraq, where about 200 foreigners were abducted as hostages in 2004 - and this Jihad tactic continues in 2005. Thirty civilian hostages have since been slaughtered like sheep (as the Armenians were 100 years ago) twenty of them being ritually beheaded by Abu Musab al-Zarkawi, while hooded adepts sanctified the ritual by shouting solemnly before the camera: "Allah u-Akhbar!"
Another school text provides young 'Jihadist martyrs' a justification for these barbarities:
Encouraging the faithful to perform jihad in the path of Allah, to behead the infidels, take them prisoner, break their power, and make their souls humble (...) You see that in His [Muhammad] words: "When you meet the unbelievers in the battlefield strike off their heads and, when you have laid them low, bind your captives firmly. Then grant them their freedom or take a ransom from them, until war shall lay down its burdens.
Jihadists and Islamic scholars are aware that beheading the infidel can be, and is often associated by Islamic jurists with a warlike Jihad tactic. The classic text is from al-Mawardi, the renowned 11th century Shafi'i jurist of Baghdad: "the most judicious of Qadis."
Mention of 'Jihad/Martyrdom' at UN: 'Blasphemy' / 'Defamation of Islam'
The inclusion - in our written NGO statement - of this grim example from al-Azhar religious teaching in Egyptian schools was considered "blasphemous" by Sudan's representative at the Sub-Commission. One of the 26 members (Pakistan's Abdul Sattar) even complained in vain on a "point of order," asking the Chairman, Soli Sorabjee (India), to prevent our oral statement on that subject. Later, Faisal Niaz Tirizi (Pakistan's representative) delivered an indignant "right of reply" (10 August 2004) condemning the NGO/17 written text, which he called a "defamation of Islam." He stated that:
"Islam was a religion of peace grouping 1.5 billion people in the world, and it was unacceptable that this religion should be thus despised"
- and that his government would take steps to protect UN organs such as the Sub-Commission from being thus abused. This public calumny - a UN "secular" form of fatwa - was repeated by the representative of Pakistan in an exceptional statement during the concluding meeting three days later, when speaking on behalf of the 56 Members States of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
"Martyrdom," as a result of "Jihad in the path of Allah," is an exalted value in the Egyptian school textbooks. These books define the martyr, talk of his elevated position in Allah's eyes and of his reward in heaven, and provide the students with examples of heroic martyrdom, both in Islamic and modern history, featuring various expressions of readiness for such action.
In this context, it is worth recalling that the motto of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, founded in 1928, is a blueprint for "Jihadist Martyrdom":
"Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Qur'an is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope."
It is identical to article 8 of the Hamas Charter, which states in its article 2 that it is "one of the wings of the Muslim Brotherhood Movement in Palestine." The conclusion of its article 7 on the ultimate fate of the Jews according to a hadith (an alleged "saying" of Muhammad) is both racial and genocidal. I have quoted from this genocidal Charter at UN bodies since 1989 - it also propagates The Protocols of the Elders of Zion - but to no effect, and Hamas has never been condemned at any United Nations body.
To the contrary, a special "meeting" was inaugurated during the 2004 UN Commission on Human Rights in honour of Sheikh Yassin, founder and spiritual leader of Hamas, who co-drafted its Charter.
The image of the Jews - historically and at present - as portrayed in all the Egyptian school textbooks of the State and religious school systems is very negative. With the exception of Albert Einstein, no Jewish individual is portrayed in positive terms, other than some key biblical figures - considered, traditionally, as Muslims.
Egypt could be an example in the Arab World for Human Rights Education
Egypt's status within the Arab world is unique. It is in a position to set an example for all other Arab countries in the direction of peace and stability in the region. Some of the findings in the textbooks are positive, but much is disappointing, and others are most shocking.
In various areas these manuals have failed to meet the recommended UNESCO standard on education that would have been expected from a country in such a special position of influence within UNESCO, in the Middle East and worldwide. School teaching on "Jihad and Martyrdom" and attitudes toward the "other," whether "protected" dhimmi (http://www.iheu.org/glossary/term/356) Jews or Christians - or other infidels - that are found in these textbooks whether State or Al-Azhar schools totally contradicts UN standards and the International Bill of Human Rights.
Arab-Muslim voices condemn Jihad ideology and appeal for sweeping reforms
But there are other voices in the Arab world which are speaking out more and more against such inflexible attitudes. Many references are provided in my above-mentioned article, just published.
We have often declared at the UN that "those committing such barbaric acts in the name of Islam gravely blemish its reputation in the eyes of the world" - and called, in vain, to UN bodies to act on this matter. Yet, we should never despair of changing hearts and minds in the quest for democracy, peace and true reconciliation with the 'other' - through education and by speaking out on such issues
One example: Saudi and Egyptian delegates were not pleased when we circulated at the last UN Sub-Commission the two above-mentioned reports on the teaching of hate in their schools, and especially that this subject was raised in our NGO/27 written statement, and also orally. The Egyptian delegate dismissed it all with a customary personal attack, but the Saudi delegate was concerned.
Within a month - perhaps a coincidence - at the beginning of the Saudi Arabian school year, senior officials called upon teachers not to disseminate extremist views among their pupils.
Now is the time to examine systematically the school textbooks used by all States Members of the United Nation, and especially the 53 members of the Commission on Human Rights. In this context, the late High Commissioner for Human Rights, Sergio Vieira de Mello, courageously recommended a pertinent reform in a 2003 report - reproduced in our article - only a few months before he and twenty-one colleagues were assassinated at their headquarters in Baghdad.
His proposal applied to States like Egypt and Sudan, two of the 53 member countries of the current 61stsession of the UN Commission on Human Rights (2005), and also to some former member States such as Saudi Arabia, and Libya (whose ambassador chaired the 59th session in 2003), and others.
So long as the Commission on Human Rights and other human rights bodies, particularly UNESCO, do not address the blatant misuse of school textbooks in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, in other countries in the Middle East and elsewhere for the purpose of teaching a culture of ethnic-religious hate, backed by a religiously-flawed ideology of "Jihad and Martyrdom in the path of Allah," there will be little hope of attaining peace and reconciliation throughout the world among peoples and religions.
Ideally, all such systems of teaching hate should give way to a general process of democratization and the observance of the International Bill of Human Rights - not just voting in elections - and respect for human rights and all ethnic and religious minorities: what is called "taking the road to democracy."
In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Winston Churchill's death (24 January 1965), our conclusion is borrowed from his memorable House of Commons speech on 20 August 1940, cherished for his unforgettable homage to Britain's RAF pilots in the victorious Battle of Britain: "Never in the history of human conflict has so much been owed by so many to so few." And then he ended his fifty minute address by referring to a future blossoming of the English-speaking democracies - Britain and the United States. May that symbolic Churchillian image take shape once that evil, plague-like nemesis - Jihad ideology and "martyrdom bombing" - is swamped by what we all pray, I am sure, will soon become a solid wave of democracy and democratization in the Middle East. Here are his very words:
"Like the Mississippi, it just keeps rolling along. Let it roll. Let it roll on full flood, inexorable, irresistible, benignant, to broader lands and better days." 4

Just pre-empting the usual 'but this was one isolated incident.....so what..Im sure there are bad Christian textbooks too..etc etc;' and 'so where are all the other examples, huh?'
By the way, I can give many more examples.
No disrespect to your thread was intended.

Calenan,
Though I am Hindu by birth and I come from a place where St.Thomas directly converted people to Christainity, I have heard enough Jesus is the best, stop pagan worshiping. But that said, One cannot compare them to Islamic similar versions. Atleast Chirstains dont cut my throat when I say something I dont like about their religion.
I am sure you dont mean any disrespect, But I wanted the people to debate Pakistan and Islam. How much of Al-Taaqiyah they are playing on us regards to the War on Terror.

Once again Adux displays his complete lack of any historical knowledge, there is no evidence that St. Thomas ever came to India, this story first appears in the Acts of Thomas which also says that he was a twin of Jesus sold into slavery, but even it doesn't specify any place in India. The so called Syrian Christians were later day refugees led by a man named Thomas of Canaan and given refuge by Hindus in Kerala about 3rd cent CE just like the Cochin Jews, over time they misidentified their earlier leader with St. Thomas.
There is no evidence that he came to India much less converted anyone as Adux so confidently repeats, if you accept that story then you have to explain a lot of other things like how he converted Nambuduri Brahmins if they came to Kerala much later, and how then Jesus is the only son of god as Christians believe if the Acts of Thomas says he had a twin.

Just to say up front, I usually don't get pulled into the so- called "evil religion of Islam" arguments because I believe extremists exists in both sides and they do unblievably evel things to the humans.
But your statement above attracted my attention. Are you sure you're following the developments against your religion's people closely? It kindda surprises me that you're not aware of these incidendts.
Cleansing of Hindus in Tripura
The two main separatist groups in Tripura are the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF). The NLFT is larger and better armed. It says it is fighting not only for the removal of Bengali immigrants from the state, but also for the tribal areas of the state to become overtly Christian. The NLFT has warned members of the tribal community that they may be attacked if they do not accept its Christian agenda (*1). Its violently enforced dictates have included threatening Hindu tribals not to use traditional musical instruments (*2) and banning the celebration of the popular Hindu festivals of Sarasvati Puja and Durga Puja (both Goddess traditions) (*3). Hindu temples and ashrams (spiritual centres) have been destroyed (*4), Hindu religious leaders have been killed (*5). In addition thousands of regular civilians have been murdered. Many incidences of kidnap and extortion have been reported.

4x4 driver,
The issue is more complex than that, there are some genuine problems to the North east, and the Indian government have been apathetic towards them. So, it is combination of things. But that said, it is definitly christain terrorism, Do you want to have comparison in scale with Islamic terrorism. Every religion especially from the Abrahmic faith quite a lot of bad things to say about other religions, that said jews, christains, Hindus(casteism etc) have reformed themseleves, can you say the same for Islam or their countries.

4X4Driver thanks for posting that, you are absolutely right, that is just the tip of the iceberg, there have been killings of tribal Hindu priests, bans on Durga Puja (a popular Hindu festival) by NFLT, there has even been a split in the NFLT itself with the Hindu members trying to leave it (they were massacred).
If you want to check similar cases, google Nagaland for Christ, you will find the terrorist leader openly admitting that religion plays a big role in their conflic.
Adux is just born to Hindu parents, doesn't mean he is one, there are many self hating Jews who just happen to be born to Jewish parents, i don't think they could be considered Jewish.

Extremism goes beyond religion and into anything people may feel strongly about, such as politics, their ego, some posession etc...people kill other people for all sorts of stupid reasons.
Also, the hate and violence being encouraged in this curriculum is more extreme then some christians running around trying to convert people. Its not like the christians are holding guns to people's heads and telling them to convert or die. If you don't like them, ignore them.

Of course I can't..their situation is obvious (at least my country Turkey is on the right track for the last 80 some years and up to date, we're still trying to develop and fight against these extremists)....but, that doesn't mean other religions' wrong doings against the mankind should be let overlooked because bashing muslims is the trend lately.

Turkey is not a Islamic country, it is a secular country with a Islamic majority. Nobody in their right mind would put you guys along with the countries we are contenting here. The threat is from Wahhabism and the likes. Turkey as a nation has tried and is trying to change/reform Islam. But to be honest the resource(money) you have in front of saudi's is pittiful along with the command(mecca, medina) is also found lacking. I believe it is a loosing battle for you.
I would accept to you whole heartly there are similar verses in bible, Hindu scriptures etc, to what degree the learned members on the issue, can argue, i am here ignornant. But these communities have actively reformed themselves, and conducted themselves in a very civilized manner not something I can say about Islamic countries.

I can embalm some body tomorrow and claim it to be that of a long lost Pharaoh, doesn't mean it becomes one.
Do u have any evidence that scientists and historians went and tested this so called body and declared it to be an authentic relic?

So one Staines murder is all you have for the numerous continued killings of Hindus by self proclaimed Christian warriors in North East.
Also it's interesting how you shift focus, i replied to ur claim that there isn't much Christian forcible conversion or other atrocities, i never said that persecution of a Christian never happened.
You sir are an ignorant moron who believes in whatever fables they told u in ur convent without regard for historical accuracy, no different from the creationist kind.
