While on the topic, I looked up some stuff om Operation Gothic Serpent and found that after Cpl. Jamie Smith was hit in the leg, they did attempt to evac. him be helicopter but the heli was to damaged to land.


0708 — Black Hawk Super Six makes a daring re-supply run, dropping water,mo and medical supplies to the trapped force. It is badly damaged, cannot land to evacuate Corporal Smith, limps back to base.

Yeah, I've done countless presentations and briefings on this operation and I'll probably continue to do so and the thing that amazes me is that everytime I do a little research...I almost always discover something I didn't know before.

The re-supply bird (Super Six Six) was flown in by CWO Stan Wood and CWO Gary Fuller and took heavy damage from machine gun fire but that tough MH-60 made it back. One of the Delta guys sustained an injury to the face while trying to get the supplies out.

Edit: Apologize for not knowing the name of the Delta operator, I know his first name was Alex and that his last name was a strange one that started with an S.

And if you read the book, you would of known about the re-supply MH-60 and how bad it got shot up, and what injuries the pilots and crew sustained.
