Ohio judge: State must change lethal injection law

ELYRIA, Ohio (AP) — A judge in Ohio says the state's method of putting prisoners to death is unconstitutional because two of three drugs used in the lethal injection process can cause pain.
Lorain County Common Pleas Judge James Burge said Tuesday the state's lethal injection procedure doesn't provide the quick and painless death required by Ohio law.
Burge said Ohio must stop allowing a combination of drugs and focus instead on a single, anesthetic drug.
The ruling is likely be appealed to the Ohio Supreme Court.
Ohio has executed 26 inmates since it resumed putting prisoners to death in 1999.
Now if someone like hank could answer this for me, I'd appreciate it.
Is having a Che and an Obama poster on his wall in his office a conflict of interest, and enough to question his impartiality?

Definitely not. Judges are impartial but they are still people and live in the same world we do. They can support candidates and almost all do. Heck judges are elected officials here in GA.

Would it change your feelings if it was a Reagan poster next to one for McCain?

The Obama poster I could understand. The Che poster on the other hand goes to show his ignorance as to the actions Che perpetrated in persuit of his beliefs. See a lot of ignorant people wearing Che gear at the Democratic gatherings. If they only truly knew.

Well, I wouldn't mind if it was in your home office, but at the court house, I think that kinda crosses some lines. Heck, people went ape**** over some members of the Supreme Court going golfing with people.

I don't always agree with Scalia but he's talked about this at lenght after Gore v Bush. You might be able to still find stuff about that. He said essentially that judges have to support someone and its not reasonable to say that they can't be objective just because of their political views. His son worked for Bush and he didn't recuse from that decision. I think he's right about that.

Look at O'Connor. She was a lifelong Republican and she sank Rehnquist's right-wing majority more often than not. It's really never as simple as political leanings.

I'll agree though that the Che poster is "unique." But it wouldn't disqualify him.
