Big5 has surplus GI issue M-1 Carbines...for $999!

Anyone get one? Who was the manufacturer?

(I blame Saving Private Ryan for the skyrocketing WW2 milsurp prices. Be sure to get your M-1s before that new HBO Spielberg Pacific campaign miniseries comes out!)

yeah i saw that also down in casagrande arizona(my range of choice) was kinda amazed. i think you can get them cheaper threw the civilian marksmanship program. we ended up just picking up a .357lever action rifle afterwords.

1000 for a m-1 carbine?!?!?!?1?!? WTF?

I paid that for a NIB Bushmaster national comp HBAR.

You could buy 8 good mosins or m48's with ammo for that price. F-That.

You can get a Service Grade M-1 Carbine for $600 from the CMP, and I'll bet its in better condition than what they have at Big5

Nice carbine D3ath, my old roomate got one too. I just ordered a Garand, but I had a hard time choosing between that and waiting for a shot at the IBM carbines.

The IBMs will go quick, I picked up the Inland along with 2 others at CMP south with my dad soon after they released. Which grade Garand did you buy? Sometime in the near future I want to get a Service H&R to go with my field grade SA

Service Grade Springfield. Wish they'd hurry up and process the order, I like to have it before I get sent out to Oklahoma City.

BTW, since I'll be moving out west soon, any of you guys that go to Big5, do they have any actual good deals on rifles? I remember hearing about the bad conditions of their K31s back when I was looking for one, and now this pretty awful price on the M-1 Carbines...

My rack-grade Carbine with My field grade SA Garand.

Only paid $395 for my carbine, I heard the Big5 ones were pretty rough...

I love the CMP; bought that garand and carbine, a 1903a3, 1903 mark I, a H&R garand receiver for a project gun, and plenty of .30-06 from them. Also eying the M1917s they should have in Oct, might have to make a drive to the south store for one...

I'm not sure which is more ridiculous - the fact that they're (Big5) selling them for that price, or that people are probably buying them for that kind of money.

I paid $700 for a re-imported Inland M1 Carbine, barrel stamped 2-43, about 8 months ago at a gun show in MI. The (older) Inland I had previously had, and foolishly sold off, cost me $370 at a show in VA. I say "foolishly sold" because that big price jump happened less than a month after I sold it.
