That is wayyy too cool... :D

So, any of you guys know which kind of paint they used? Or which type in general sticks to a gun and lasts there for more that a day?

In Afgh we used BowFlage which is actually made for camouflaging Bows and hunting weapons and then be easy to take off at the end of the season. It lasted pretty well through 9 months of torture and came off after we soaked our M-4s in Simple Green for a while.

If you want it to stick forever I would just use Rustoleum!

about the paint job on the AR15
(from Military Morons (http://www.militarymorons.com/))

I used Aervoe brand enamel spray paint. It'll scratch a bit and wear with use, but I don't care. Adds character. For a template, I drew a grid on heavy art paper, designed my pattern (using my MARPAT bdu's as a reference), and cut it out with an x-acto knife. I used the larger template for sand and grey, and the smaller one for earth brown and field drab. I put two base coats of sand, let that dry, then did the patterns. I dusted a light coat of sand to blend the colours in. Two clear coats of matte finished it off. It wasn't too much work - but there was a lot of drying time. I allowed at least a week for the paint to cure before assembling the different components.

This pics were taken from MMs site and then hosted at hunt101... it would have been nice to CREDIT where there came from irregardless of the watermarks.

Krylon works well too and is more widely available.

That paint scheme would be insanley difficult to pull of in 1/6th scale. If anyone accomplishes it please post some pics I would love to see it. woot

actually it shouldn't be too difficult....i have seen schemes just as intricate or more so on smaller scales ( i knew a guy who paints flecktarn pattern on 1/35 scale figures. now that is difficult)...the instructions given would work on 1/6..all u need is some patience

I also did the AR CADPAT M14 at the top of this thread for a member of our Armed Forces.

For those who want to know, I use Krylon Camo System spray paint,Testors Military Modeler paint sprayed through anAztek A77778 airbrush.

The finish is protected by a Matte Clear coat.

The Templates took around 8 hours to layout and cut.

Thanks for all the compliments!!!! :D

Yes I do custom work, but due to hassles with Duty/Taxes & Canada Customs regarding stocks being shipped to me, I don't accept paint work from th U.S.I have no exemptions as I am not a business, but just someone who does this out of their garage.

Sorry. :(

Aha, that makes a difference!!! ;) I'm only an hour away from you.

Are you looking at just painting a stock, or the complete rifle/scope set up???

PM me with details of what you would like and I will give you a price.

So what is the deal with these super cool painted rifles? Is anybody allowed to paint them up and use them in the field and on parade? Do the High Ups object to it? Or is it only for Special Forces, or just for displaying and showing off to your mates?

For me, being a PFC (private Frigging Civilian), it is for the LCF (look cool factor) ;) .

But I have painted the C.F. CADPAT for a few current serving members for their personal weapons.
