Great site. oooooooo just noticed he did a test on the scrapper6. I love mine.

Saved me from making a big mistake of buying a Strider a while ago. The most overpriced and overhyped knives in the world. Let alone Mick Striders posing walt arse. Why pay $350+ dollars for a POSERS name on a knife, when you can get a cold steel copy that is just as good if not better for $25?

The rule of you get what you pay for does not apply here.

(waits for a Strider kool aider to come in here and bash me for pointing out only mall ninjas and walts buy them. I guess i would defend them as well, if i felt hella stupid for getting ripped off. Saving face sort of thing.) 3.......2.......1.....

are you baiting?

i own one strider, an ar folder (i'd like to get a persian style slcc). the ar is bit too bulky for edc but a good knife nonetheless. s30v holds a decent edge and although i've had it in the water more than once it still shows no sign of rust. it'd make a good military folder. personally i prefer the lone wolf harsey series for a military folder. or perhaps an emerson cqc-8/12/13. a buddy of mine on an active oda carries a harsey t3, and a swisstool. if its good enough for him...

i'm not aware of a $25 cold steal folder that compares to a strider ar/gb/smf but i might be mistaken. with knives you can certainly get what you pay for, quality of steel and edge geometry make a big difference, but after a certain threshold you start approaching the point of diminishing returns. that threshold varies for different people. for me i don't like paying more than $200 for a knife (naturally there are exception because as the knife gets bigger the material cost increases). similarly i refuse to pay more than $1,000 for a handgun (hence, no 1911 in the safe). those are my thresholds.

That's the website that convinced me to give the Cold Steel G.I. Tanto a shot. So far, it has held up as well as the one in their test has! Not a bad investment for under $20, if you ask me.

I don't get the point of it. They are using knives for jobs that the knives are not supposed to do, and judge them based on that. Why not actually use the knives & then report on their qualities instead of destroying them.

meaningless site.

Actually they do... they have both cutting and failure tests, at least I found both kind of tests browsing their forum... For me except durability, sharpening ease and edge keeping there is nothing really that important to know about the knife. And durability comes first, you will eventually cut trough anything with the dull knife, you can sharpen it along when it looses edge fast, but you can't work when it breaks in half....

And as for not intended uses of knife. Damn It happens more often than not when only tool you've got is a knife and the job isn't necessarily proper for the tool you've got. I don't say its only thing to consider but having knife you know will stand beating is a good thing...

But other than that I agree...

Not baiting, jus venting a little. Had just got into a little heated arguement about them. Seems to happen now and again.

As long as a person is happy with buying said item, who am i to hate. The fact a person is buying a knife, is a good thing.

That said, i will not support a WALT, with my money. No matter how many knives he gives to the troops, saying something he never was is across the line. And even with said fact, some strider fans are downright rabid in defending the man, no matter what.

Hmm, dont know about the folders, seeing as we were talking about fixed blade knives, the video also doesnt test any folders. Would like to see some.

Cold steal, lol, has some gems. But thats what they are, some affordable decent blades you dont mind using, abusing and losing.

Other than being in the hood, and carrying a folding tanto for protection, i have never had the need for many 'tac' folders. My edc varies around a delica and endura.

Hahaha i kept putting caps on what i would spend. But then something just 50 bucks more kept dragging me across the line. There are plenty of 1911's under a grand. Just ask the guys in the firearms thread.
