A friend of mine had them fireing shells over him and hitting fairly close for about half a year. I can tell you that he has a different kind of respect for them.

I love the fact that every israeli soldier looks different, gives a custom look and a quite cool look to the IDF.

Well, you cant give up that easily if you at least want to look like you are upholding some kind of peace.
The other side in that conflict wherent much better. If they belived that they had won a fight they drove by fireing up into the air wildly around the compound, and if they had lost they drove by fireing directly into the compund.

Well, a friend of mine had not only shells firing at his house (West Muslim Beirut), but actually even visited Hezbollah camps (he's against them) on some occasions and he finds the Israeli soldiers are the only truely respected warriors in the conflict.
He told quiet a lot about Hesbollah tactics on Israeli borders and what they do in order to increase the collateral damage on both sides... all their dirty terrorist tricks...
I tell you - after conversation with my Lebanese friend my respect toward IDF only increased.
By the way, he still lives in West (Muslim) Beirut and I bet Mossad or CIA would be interested of getting him on their employment list (if he is not employed already  :) ). He was born and raised there, Arabic is his native tongue. such people are invaluable in the war against Islamo-fascists.
........
My Syrian friend respects IDF, too. So some of Muslims from Iran that I know. I guess I have different friends than you.

Well... not long time ago Israel got some surplus PASGAT helmets.
though most of IDF use the Or helmets (mostly rear units use PASGAT), some say its because it looks like the helmets of the german in WW2, go figure... ah well our mushroom helms rocks !!! :D

Probably, thanks! :)
The developers for MARKUS, the future Swedish soldier system are hunting weight reduction in the kit, and every gram counts.

(This is just a demonstrator not a final concept or anything, just a picture on how the test system looks today.)

The U.S type helmet worn in Israel
are Israeli made
Rabintex and orlite both made this helmet
but you are seeing them with U.S 6 colour desert helmet covers
U.S gave this camo to Israel and its being issued to some units now
