Do the boots have built-in bluetooth connectivity? Seriously though, Nokia makes rubber boots?

"Finnish Rubber Works established its factories in the beginning of 20th century nearby and began using Nokia as its brand. Shortly after World War I (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_I), Finnish Rubber Works acquired Nokia Wood Mills as well as Finnish Cable Works, a producer of telephone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telephone) and telegraph (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telegraphy) cables. These three companies were merged to form Nokia Corporation in 1967."

And mobile phones!

OK, serious face on now.

Anyone know where to get these in UK? I asked this question awhile ago on here when I was looking for a more kickass pair of wellies! They have a fur liner too I think, which'd be nice and warm.

I have found this page:
http://www.nokianfootwear.fi/eng/outdoor/
But do not know which type is used by the FDF (I'm thinking these would be best, as would be tough), or even if that is the right company (says Nokian rather than Nokia)

So, anyone know where in UK they can be found?

Cheers
BB

Oops I posted the wrong link. Main page is:

http://www.nokianfootwear.fi/eng/

From there:

Great Britain
Rosker Ltd
13 Quay Lane, Gosport
PO12 4LJ HAMPSHIRE
Tel. +44 (0) 23 9252 8711
Fax +44 (0) 23 9252 9108
sales(at)rosker.co.uk
www.rosker.co.uk

By the way, the felt lined Nokia wellies start becoming handy around -10C temps. Before that they are only very heavy and too warm boots. :) You have to remember they are meant for up to -30C and even colder weather.

For UK weather I would definately pick something lighter.

Nokias are nice.

Its weird though that they don't seem to sell on these sites boots compatible with skis

Cheers Jippo, that's a lot of help!

Think I found the FDF ones, are they these:
http://www.nokianfootwear.fi/eng/outdoor/naali.php

I imagine its not really so cold in GB as it is in Finland, but thinking of going for those anyway, since as they are the FDF ones they'll be tough (at least tougher from my existing civvy pair with a hole in the foot!) and it says you can take out the fur lining if its not needed, right? Besides, me feet are always freezing in wintertime, so it'll probably be welcome!

Went on the Rosker website but they didnt have them listed, will give them a ring tomorrow and see if they can get ahold of a pair at a decent price.

Kjall, it says on those boots I linked to (Naalis) that they will fit into skis... but I thought you needed hard plastic boots for skiing, lots of ankle support and ability to lean over lots?

It depends on the type of bindings
Proper Rubberboots, should work on Nato standard bindings like these http://www.forsvarsbrukt.no/shopexd.asp?id=753

I have used old leather boots with similar (really old) civilian bindings (that are almost identical).

Ohhh, I see. I really don't know enough about skiing to have much of an idea about it, I've never been off the dry slope and that was when I was growing up.

Still, the girlfriend says she will show me how to ski properly one day, on real snow... Can't wait for Christmas and holidays to rock around!:)

I can't think of a reason anyone would specifically want the FDF issue ones

IMO, there's plenty of better (read: more confy) boots from nokian and other manufacturers. Not to mention the issue ones carry a hefty "issue item" price tag :/

Me, I picked up a pair of surplus Swedish rubber boots...10€, same features and made in Canada btw ;)

Yeh, guess so. Like I said, just looking for something tough and warm, and figured the FDF ones would fit the bill.

And who knows, if you can slip them onto skis (or at least some types of bindings) then if I stop being such a malcoordinated numpty  and actually pick up how to ski, it could even save having to fork out for another pair of boots for that...;-)

I use them for hunting (fox, hare) in the winter, and I think they fit the bill perfectly.
