In 1968 my dad was in Vietnam, where one drunken night he traded his shirt for that of a Staff Sgt in the US army named Kilabrew. How could I hunt down this guy.

I only have his rank and name and the date of his time in country. So is there any way that i could find out were he is today through American military record ?

Have you tried googling his name like "Staff Sgt Kilabrew Vietnam War." Sometimes pages come up that have their names listed if they're a member of a veteran organization, or did something signifigant enough for someone to talk about them.

Also many units have reunion associations, you might find something there.

Nope..Only the service member can get to that record. And if he is dead..Only a surviving spouse or family member may access a military record. Or someone with power of attorney(Executor) rights over his estate.

Did that change recently? I requested service records a couple years ago while doing some research; as long as the records still exist, they should be available from the NARA.

The correct spelling is "Killebrew".
