i figured i would have a little farewell thread put out there now, because i leave for Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island on monday for bootcamp, but i don't know how much i will be on here until then. i leave for meps on sunday night and stay over night and then monday i actually go to Parris Island. but this forum has been great. between super tanuki san and all the ***** threads, it's been good. was this dramatic enough? :P anyway, talk to you guys 13 weeks after monday. ;)

I've been eyeballing at a USMC light infantry reserve unit in Utah, but they said I can't transfer from a reserve component (UTNG) to another reserve component (USMC reserve). I still have a short 3 years contract with UTNG.

bootcamp alone is 13 weeks. then i come back for 10 days, unless i get recruiters assistance, then i will be back for longer, and then when my leave is up, i go to SOI, School Of Infantry, for about 8 weeks or so.

MarineDEP, what do you get for your pre-APFT?

we do the IST (Initial Strength Test) and that is what you do when you get there and it consists of: maximum crunches in 2 minutes, maximum pull ups (minimum is 3), and a mile and a half run in less than 13 minutes. i do 136 crunches in 2 minutes (which is far above the average) i do 8 pull ups, and i do the mile and a half run in usually 10 minutes, but last monthly meeting i did it in 8:56 (strange burst of energy). you could join that reserve unit jack....but you would have to go to Marine Bootcamp. and i doubt you would want to do that.
