Officials: Fighting breaks out in northern Lebanon
Jun. 22, 2008
Associated Press , THE JERUSALEM POST

Lebanese security and medical officials say that fighting has broken out in northern Lebanon between pro- and anti-government supporters, wounding at least 10 people.
The security officials said tension has been on the rise for several days between pro-government supporters in Tripoli's Bab el-Tabaneh district and opposition supporters in the neighboring Jabal Mohsen. They said machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades were being used in Sunday's fighting. The area witnessed heavy fighting last month when pro-government gunmen and armed men loyal to the Hizbullah-led opposition clashed in different parts of the country.

So now it is official...it is happening. Which opposition force, hezzies?

Lebanese security officials: 1 killed, 28 wounded in bomb explosion
Jun. 28, 2008
Associated Press , THE JERUSALEM POST

Lebanese security officials say at least one person was killed and 28 others wounded when an explosion ripped through an apartment building in the northern city of Tripoli.
The security officials said the early Saturday explosion was caused by a bomb placed in the first floor of a building in a district whose Sunni Muslim residents support the government. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not allowed to speak to the media. The explosion occurred in an area that was the scene of fierce sectarian fighting last week between government and opposition supporters. Nine people were killed and 44 others were wounded in those clashes.
