Unless you can make your F-22 hover on supercruise, you're only allowed to use iron sights and the rail system that comes issued on your weapon

well, im in the USAF and so far i've changed out the pistol grip for a tango down version, replaced the stock with a vltor modstock, added an aimpoint 3x magnifier, and a tango down forward hand grip. other than that....i've got the standard peq-2 and rail covers.....oh yea i've got a surefire m900a on there too.

well, i'm not AFSOC, i'm just security forces. also modifications to your weapon are allowed alot more while in theater. basically....as long as it's not anything permanent, it's allowed.
also, you can not change out your issued sight. for instance, i can't replace my aimpoint with an acog.

thank you sir! i appreciate the info
i think youre best off with the 68 anyway i dont know if you like it but i love it
afsoc can choose the 68, acog or the reflex,

Wow, you're in the AF and you get a weapon? Sweet. All I got was an M-16 qual once every three years.

Very nice, I prefer EOTech though actually... Acog is nice, but EOTech allows accuracy near and far, Acog is harder (based on my experience with one) to shoot closer)

Really, in my experience, it's just point and shoot. Guess somebody need to zero their sights better next time.

We were allowed to fight over a green sling or a back sling.

The issue is magnification, not zeroing. Up close Eotech is just faster because of the 1x magnification and very large field view.

I've never had trouble with the magnification. Keep both your eyes open, and look over your sights as you move. See a target, but red in the center, and squeeze. Never fails.

I know, I have one. But Eotech is still faster up close.

Yeahfor a close enough range, but I prefer my EOTech because I CAN keep both eyes open and shoot accuratley rather than shoot accuratly out to distance and not have precision closer.

Ok, I was wrong in this case. He's yours now... :)

How were you wrong? EOTech is better and faster for up close, and it is a .5moa dot at 100 yards if I'm not mistaken, pretty good long range if it is then, too.

Off topic. Those around me always thought it was rather strange that I was capable of shooting accurately with both eyes open whether it was iron sights or scope or whether it was 100 or 500 yards. Is that strange or supposed to be odd?

Anything out to 100 yards I can shoot with both eyes open. Move beyond that I gotta close my eye. It starts to get a bit hazy for. But to each his own.

If you can shoot with both eyes open more power to you brother. Gives you great situational awarness.

Yep, same here. Scope is ok at any range, but irons become a bloody mess at longer ranges.

Well, you said that with acog one can not get accuracy closer, and if I understood right, also that it is not possible to keep both eyes open. I disagree with these. Shooting with Eotech and Acog up close isn't any different in my opinion, it is just that Accog is a fraction of second slower in target acquisition.

EOtech is a 3moa center dot and a 65 moa ring
Jippo

It's 1 MOA center dot, but that probably isn't the issue.

I've used the EOTech once, on a G36C out at 200 yards, and it was great to use for rapid acquisition and sticking rounds into a centre mass area. I am confident I could use it and a 4x sight (SUSAT in my case - similar characteristics to ACOG) with equal effect at close range, with the EOTech winning out in acquisition speed, but the magnified sight winning in shot placement. I've used the SUSAT in rapid competition short range shoots at 25, 50, 75 and 100 metres and with practice the effects of magnification didn't particularly matter; though the SUSAT is very comfortable to use with both eyes open.
