View Full Version : Info wanted about FN FAL rifles from Cuba.
More specifically, does anyone here know anything about their specific characteristics? Like how do they differ from the standard Belgian model, and how they are similar. Also, don't they have similarities to the British Commonwealth version?

Werent the Cuban FAL's FN Contract versions that merely had the Cuban Crest on the Mag Well? I recall reading Peter Kokalis investigating it. Captured FAL's in El Salvador showed up with Circular cutouts in the mag well. Serial Numbers showed them to be Cuban Contract Guns.

I think you are correct, Linedoggie. I remember that article, too. Specifically, I remember the fact that the Cubans cut out their insignia on the receiver magwells, but the FALs were still easily traced, due to the serial numbers.
Those old-school Soldier of Fortune articles were the sh!t!

I've read that article. I've also read about that from Ezell's book, Small Arms of the World Today, 2nd Edition, I believe it's called. I'm mainly interested in what characteristics or components it shares with the standard Belgian model and what differences it has. Also, what similarities it has with other FAL types.
