We've discussed gays and women (not necessarily in that order), but now I'm starting to get concerned that we might have toasters watching our marine's backs. I for one am outraged, however, if the robots have to undergo the same boot camp and standards, I may change my tune. p-)

If the robots have to go on the "Battlebots" or whatever that show is called, i think it would be okay. Kind of like almost Marines going through the Crucible, no?

the ones they are working with so far have no big combat role AFAIK, they are more or less cameras on wheels. Good for scouting out caves and rooms before a guy goes in.
I reckon some of the ones the army uses have 12 gauges mounted on them for breaching doors.

Shouldn't we first establish the gender and ****** preferance of the robots? Cus you know if they have both female and male plugs wouldn't that make them bi******? I was just wondering .......... do they call 'em cyberheads? :cantbeli:
Hehe post put a smile on my face with this post. :D

Trouble determining gender might keep these robots out of combat arms units. Hmm...

Seeing as I wear a globe & anchor (as well as a laurel wreath and crown) I take that personally - as I'm sure do the Leathernecks on this site...

it was;nt me it was my evil twin he lives in pompey
...both female and male plugs...
During the lean years (Clinton Admin), many in the Navy Dept. had to attend a sensitivity class we called by its hand out "In Consideration to Others". Words like "female end" and "male end" were banned due to the ****** context. But the funniest demand was that the word "period" was also strickened. As in this sentence, "Now, you will run to the barracks, PERIOD!" To this day I can't correlate a women's menstral cycle and an order.

If the robot can clean a rifle and wear a high and tight, why not?

Yea let em serve, but build in an off switch. Just to failsafe in case they realise how perfect they are and try to wipe out the human race. Oh and make them carry the heavy ****!

A robot Marine might go bad the way the robot in "Red Planet" did. Has anyone thought of that? Or, as Wolfe117 said, we might end up with a situation a'la "Terminator". What about HAL in "2001"? He got uppity, and look what happened!
I'm starting to think that this whole robot thing is a bad idea! It's very scary.

This is very interesting. I just saw it. It's a 15MB video of a 'Futurecop in Soweto'. In what appears to be a faux corporate video spec piece, a futuristic robot cop patrols chaotic streets of South Africa.

Is that a GALIL that he (it) is using?
