Any other pics?

Can't say it looks very legit, though it could have been made by some tailor in Saigon. But usually tailor made tiger uniform (or any custom uniform) usually feature an embroided and colorful tag of the shop.

Also, on issued tigerstripe shirt, size would not be on a tag but ironed on.

I'll try to dig up Tiger Patterns tonight in my things, there might be so info.

The tag is Viet so I guess it's some sweat shop knockoff.

i just bought a set of these , they are a copy of the Marine Corp Dense pattern and are being made in China , looks like this person added the stamp to fake war time manufacture and washed them a few times to make them look older , i would be careful how much you pay , my set cost around $50 shipped .

im Very Sorry to hear that , Tiger Stripes is a difficult camo to collect , like WWII German there are so many good fakes out there , and plenty of unscrupulous people trying to make a buck off of collectors. :-(

I just Looked at Johnsons Tiger Patterns and all the example's he has seen have not had tags or even size stamps , so odds are its a fake , im very sorry.
Also all the examples shown in the book have single exposed buttons on the pockets , or hidden buttons.

I wouldn't say that a shirt is real or fake based only on breast pocket buttons, two buttons version were present too.

i Agree , im just stating whats in the book and comparing the pics of real examples against the pics he posted , his pattern little details match the repo set i own much closer then the pics of the real ones in the book , i already compared the two when i first received my repo set.

is it possible to send it back and get a refund ?? did you use payapl to buy it ?? you might file a claim , even if you paid with a credit card you may be able to make a claim if the seller was saying it was original .

Bah... Just get Johnson's Tiger Pattern, read it, re-read it, re-reread it. Try to find as much era pictures as you can (The Vietnam/SOG/SF/Ranger thread being a good one).

It happens in collecting... Everyone got fooled once or two!

Also, join the Militaria Discussion group, it can always help for identifying gear/medals/badge before buying them

I just looked up the shirt styles and according to Johnson , this pattern was never made with this style cut, the 2 open buttons are a dead giveaway , only single exposed button versions were made , of course Johnson could be wrong .

Johnson's Tiger Pattern?
the seller's not to blame because he didn't know its age. i was fooled by myself, i thought it could be the real-deal... it's my first camo shirt from asia and maybe the last.

Tiger Pattern is the most complete reference book out there concerning tiger stripe camo.

Here's a couple of must have books for Vietnam collector

-Any Stanton's book
-Any Paul Miraldi's book
-SOG: A photo history of the secret wars
-Running Recon by Frank Greco
-Tiger Patterns

These are the ones that pop into my head right as they have loads of pics

look, it has a tag and a print for ID. it seems strange because you get print logo inside to avoid the tag which is uncomfortable
