This vehicle is basically an M4A1 Sherman tank composite hull HVSS with diesel engine (M-50) with the turret replaced.
The Kilshon is a tank fitted to launch the American Shrike anti radiation missile (and later Standart missiles) . The system was planned, produced and pressed into service right after the 1973 Yom Kippur War. It was meant to be used against Syrian and Egyptian SAM batteries radars, without endangering any planes and pilots. Taken out of service about the 1980s.
In Yom Kippur War 1973, Israel suffered severe losses to Arab air defences. Surface to Air Missiles (SAM) had forced Israeli aircraft to operate at very low level where they were susceptible to Anti-Aircraft Artillery. The Shrike air-to-ground anti-radar missile launched from Phantoms was not altogether successful in clashes with Syrian forces between October 1973 and April 1974.

Argentina also used Shermans until the late '70s to early '80s. Some of them where bought from the IDF. Argentina bought M4 Shermans surplus from the US and Britain in 1947 , the M4s bought from Britain mounted the 17 pounder guns, Argentina was the only S. American country to field M4s with British 17 pounders .

Off topic.
Nah:-(! I & had one 60 hour pass for my entire tour, with 8 others drove from Irish Battalion A.O. to Naqoura / Rosh Hanika crossing then through Israel to Damascus, Syria one overnight there, then drove from Damascus, to Haifa, overnight there then crossed the border the next day, arrived back in the Irish Battalion area, near midnight, changed into combats and sent down to an O.P. for the night.
Found memories of:
1. The driver taking the wrong road in Israel and we ended up going through the gates of an Israeli Military Barracks, boy that greated some panic.rofl
2. Getting wasted with the Canadians of U.N.D.O.F. in Damascus, and enjoying the sheeps eyeballs at a Syrian wedding in the hotel.rofl
3. Being invited into Haifa Port for a piss-up, then getting hassle from the guards when trying to leave (long story)rofl
Take care,
