Is there any ways to spot a fake ACH? or anything particularly a real ACH should have?

haha...if it wasn't issued you shouldn't waste your money on it.
or
Acquire a grenade, pull pin, place under helmet. Sit on helmet, report back with results.

^Ha ha ha!
Aye...if the Q man didn't give you it, don't trust your life to it.
That's a general rule that has only a few exceptions. It certainly applies to ballistic protective kit bought off ebay....

If the bullet goes through, it's probably fake.

Find out what a MICH in whatever size you have weighs, then weigh your helmet. If it's lighter, it's not a MICH.

shouldn't this thread be with the airsofter section and not equipment.

Equipment and Gear (http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=8) I never once said anything about Airsoft. Never played it in my life. I see a crap load on ebay and want to sell mine. I then wondered if those prices are for fakes or what. Don't see anything on mine that they don't have but I know fakes exist. Thanks for your input friend.

no offense but there are a lot of Airsofter with these kinds of question, nothing personal.
If you search on ebay under Gentex or Mich, there are a lot of real ones. Plus the buyer can get his money back though if he pays with paypal, if it turns out to be a lemon.

lol...Thats the worst way to find out! Take a golf club to it and it dents or makes a ping sound its fake...If it makes a dunk and the golf club hits you in the sack its real...This is the way I tested mine...

Bit like testing an electric fence, wait till a dog pees on it, or grab it, both works, in different ways.

Try and shoot yourself in the head while wearing it.

Try and shoot yourself in the head while wearing it. You do realise that someone will try that.

^ mines a fake :)
Wow, I'm amased how difficult it apparently is to get a decent piece of advice around here. But what do I know, I'm the new guy. Still, we're on page two and I only spot one serious comment regarding how to tell the difference between a fake and real ACH.
Other than comparing the weight you can also check the serial number inside it. Get the number before buying and call the claimed manufacturer to see wether it's the real deal or not. That's what I did.
And by the way, you'd be just as big an ignorant to simply believe that everything the army issues is top notch. Of course they wouldn't throw a fake helmet at you, but in many cases you have to buy some gear for yourself if you want something that works where it counts.
For instance ACH's arent issued to anything else than snipers and special forces in my country, so I had to buy it for myself since the issued Gallet is a piece of crap. Same goes for boots, plate carrier, eyewear, gloves ect.

Anyone read immediate action?
When they get issued new helmets and one guy wants to shoot himself in the head to prove that it works and someone intervenes at the last moment and stops it.
Then a week later the factory rings up to see whether they like mock ups.Exact same size and weight, but not an ounce of protection.
I've read about that situation in Bravo Two Zero i think, luckily I've never heard of someone actually being shot in the head like that.
Why would anyone want to test the helmet like that? Is it a Jackass-symptome or just plain stupidity? Even though they plan to survive it, they know that it'll hurt like hell and maybe cause a concussion.
