Subject : " Search and rescue operations at sea "
Name of the exercise : "JOINT HORIZON"
OBJECTIVE : General aim: Demonstration of SMAF Navy commitment and operational skills for active participation in regional security exercises and conducting tasks from the field of safe navigation in line with international obligations.
- Establishment and practice of procedures and rescue operations.
- Coordination of activities and practising of search and rescue procedure at sea among the Navy commands and SCG and Italian security navigation system members.
- Demonstration of operational skills of the SMAF Navy in conducting search and rescue tasks in the security navigation system.
DATE: 0 4 .06.2004.
AREA OF EXERCISE: 3 0 NM west of Bar harbour
PARTICIPANTS OF EXERCISE: Serbian and Montenegrin Navy Corps Operations team, Coastal radar station, Navy Command and Information system, 1 Frigate, 1 missile gunboat, 1 coastal tugboat and 1 tanker. Italian Navy Forces (expected) Operations Navy command, 1 Patrol ship and 2 coast guard ships, 1 helicopter, Surveillance and reporting centres. SCG security navigation system forces: Security navigation system coastal station – Bar radio and SCG Security navigation agency.
PRINCIPLE IDEA OF THE EXERCISE:
I stage: Activation of search and rescue operation system at sea.
II stage: Search of wider area for the establishment of ship positions.
III stage: Joint r escue of the attacked crew and ship
IV stage: Command ship sails into Kotor harbour following the exercise .
