In June 1979, an unknown party under the pseudonym R.C. Christian hired Elberton Granite Finishing Company to build the structure.

Can anyone tell me who the unknown party is?

A message consisting of a set of ten guidelines or principles is engraved on the Georgia Guidestones in eight different languages, one language on each face of the four large upright stones. Moving clockwise around the structure from due north, these languages are: English, Spanish, Swahili, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic, Ancient Chinese, and Russian. The message in English reads:

Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature
Guide reproduction wisely - improving fitness and diversity.
Unite humanity with a living new language.
Rule passion - faith - tradition - and all things with tempered reason.
Protect people and nations with fair laws (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laws) and just courts.
Let all nations (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nations) rule internally resolving external disputes in a one world court
Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
Balance personal rights (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rights) with social duties.
Prize truth - beauty - love - seeking harmony with the infinite.
Be not a cancer on the earth - Leave room for nature - Leave room for nature.

"Fitter, happier, more productive, comfortable, not drinking too much
Regular exercise at the gym, 3 days a week
Getting on better with your associate employee contemporaries at ease
Eating well, no more microwave dinners and saturated fats
A patient better driver, a safer car, baby smiling in back seat
Sleeping well, no bad dreams, no paranoia
Careful to all animals, never washing spiders down the plughole
Keep in contact with old friends, enjoy a drink now and then
Will frequently check credit at moral bank, hole in wall
Favors for favors, fond but not in love
Calm fitter, healthier and more productive a pig in a cage on antibiotics"

I don't think you have much to worry about. Most WMDs aren't very harmonious with nature.

You know,Guiliotinnes in France revolution and Maksim mashinegun in Russian revolution where WMDs too...

Odd choice of languages. Hebrew (~6 million speakers) but not French (>>> 6 million speakers)? And Swahili? WTF?

Obviously the stones were placed there by the Elders of Zion, right?

Other than Hebrew, it seems that they wanted to include a lingua franca of all the continents. I find ancient Chinese odd. If they wanted to include that and Hebrew, I don't understand why Latin or ancient Greek were left out. Interesting post, I had never heard of this monument before...and I'm only about an hour drive away. I'll have to check this thing out when I get some free time.

Shape, colour, message, functionality and the name RC Christian seems to point to some esoteric christian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esoteric_Christianity) mysticism inspired by Christian Rosenkreutz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Rosenkreutz) (Christian Rose Cross), like anthroposophs, speculative freemasons or some rosicrucianist order.

Or possibly an elaborate hoax at their expense.

Hardly comparable.

Yeah, it's because, like, Swahili is so far out, man. Like, close to nature, man.

One day a Brit, a Spaniard, a Waswahili, an Indian, an Israeli, a Saudi, an old Chinese guy and a Russian decided to make a monument in the US for no good reason at all. ...kinda like sounds like a joke to me

..

It's a 'Rosetta Stone' / American Stonehenge.

Been there awhile, and made for the ages.

Hermetic roots ... eg, MILITVM XPISTI SIGILLVM, ancient and accepted.

Still No source of who wrote or built (unknown Party) this monument?

Hmmm.. Im looking for the money backers? specific individuals or groups. not general ideas or religious fanatics.

what was erected was something that took a measure of effort and thought, that should not be ignored.

I can neither confirm nor deny having any knowledge of the identities of the backers of the Georgia Guidestones, nor would I be at liberty to discuss those identities if I did, indeed, know them.

Hmmm.. Im looking for the money backers? specific individuals or groups.

Why?

The monument was built in a fairly remote location for discretion and hopefully
for a saner posterity. They don't want publicity or money, and they don't seek
new 'adherents'.

They are not religious fanatics by any stretch of the imagination, as that presupposes a closed mind.

The monument is not a conspiracy or stunt. Don't look for plots.
By definition, the unknown cannot be judged ...
and I've already told you who they are.

That's pretty much all he does. If it's a Bryanleu2002 thread, odds are there's a conspiracy theory afoot - just check his post history.

Not really, think about the time frame it was erected

Hippies still roamed the earth

Carter was President, and was attacked by a Rabbit(APR20)

Chrysler asked the Gov for a Bailout of $1B

Bell Bottoms on men(and not Squids, but Civvies)

Ted "U-Boat Kommander" Kennedy running for President

some New Age Dork thinking that Swahili is the mother language of all Africans in the USA put it in. Just like inventing Kwanza and calling it African.

The Ancient Chinese is baffling, but again, some numbnut probably got it from some book and didnt know the difference.

The USA doesnt have large swaths of French speaking citizens.

Im not looking for a plot! just a money backer.. this is just an investigation. slow down with the conspiracy theory. I was never instigating or inciteing that this was some sort of tin foil hat cra@ . I work in the construction field and know that such a granite stone is expensive to erect and carve in such a manner. From my view somebody someone or some group went to some great length and expense to create such a monument. I just want to know who or what group payed for this, and ask them what its intent is.

Obviously I cant get any reasonable answers here at MP.net. I will pursue a new course of action.

And Buckeye67 IF you think that every post i have ever made is some kind of conspiracy afoot, then request that i be removed from MP.net. I only ask simple questions.

Most of the time I get answers that are of humorous nature, and humor always breaks the mood of seriousness..

And thats what i have become to expect from MP.net..

Heard that. I know where you are coming from and you will not get answers from this herd. It is like the dollar topic, Ron Paul, UFO's. Bet there is a Rockefeller involved. If I find anything interesting I will send you a PM.

Unless my command of the english language fails me, what I said was that when you start a thread, odds are there's some tinfoil hattery or conspiracy theory lurking just behind the curtain.

Last year they had a crash, two of the guys were sent to the hospital.

They just wanted you to think they went to the hospital... they were probably really hatching some plot to raise a stone monument dedicated to overthrowing our pristine way of life.

Damned Illuminati, what will they think of next!?
