How effective is an embargo, blockade, etc...U.S. tried it, UN tried it, every organizations have practically tried it against belligerent tyrannical nation, but how well does it really work?

Cuba was a "quarantine" and work in a way, Iraq was under embargo for like a decade, N. Korea is threatening war if an embargo was place on them, Liberia was under an embargo for years??? So...in the end, how effective is it?

It's effective in ruining the life of every day civilians but I don't think it is effective in causing a regime change.

Embargoes differ from blockages. Whereas embargoes seek economic ruin on a population, blockages seeks to isolate a particular area, and may cause economic, sociological, political/military ruin.
Historically, economic embargoes haven't worked. People simply need to trade for their common good(and greed), and will risk death. This is evident with Napoleon's failure to embargo English goods, the UN failure on the Iraqis, ecetera ecetera. Conversely, blockages have been more successful, such as the Lincoln's Anaconda Plan and Kennedy's Quarantine.

north korea is crazy...if they get blockaded by the UN/US/SEATO who ever, they will go to war with the south...

not even castro is that insane. We blockaded him and instead of taking advantage of the situation and wiping out florida he took the hint and backed down.
