Protest Warrior has a mission today. We will all be meeting at 11 am on the corner of K st and 14th st on Washington DC. I think the closest metro stop is farrugat north but im not sure, check the map or ask a metro official. They start at 12 so we need to be there early to get ready. We will be cutting them off on 14th street as they march north. Bring your signs, ill see you all there. >-Mike

LOL. I love protestwarrior.. but I think you guys are just instigators looking for a fight. I watched the videos and read the forums.. while it might not be as fun to hear about, I don't think you guys are going about it the right way. You guys are just crashing their parties, which is what they used to do as well. So while fighting fire with fire might seem a good way to go.. can't say I blame them when they get all indignant.

Just sometimes current American politics confuse me when many of you use the term "the left" what do you mean exactly, is it the Democrats which seem to be an almost centrist party in my opinion or some socialist groups or parties that may be unknown to me. The term "the right" does this apply to the Republican party or does it include other bodies and groups.
I am starting to get a handle on Libertarian theories which by UK standards seem to swing left to right and back again but with a keen sense of egalitarianism and environmental awareness.

The US has sort of a "Red Shift" effect going in comparison to European politics. We don't really have a left, we just have a far right and an even farther right. Yes, some will disagree with this and call the Democrats "Commie Pinko Nazi Kerry-Lovers," but let's face it, European politics are far more diverse for the most part than the US's.

Have a good one, and just some thoughts...

The left to right spectrum of US main stream politics is very narrow.
If the Dems seem centrist it is because the majority of the Dems and Reps are centrists by the US standard, there are distinct issues of difference, however.

And about Libertarian, they only kind of environmental awarness they should have is that of consumer perogative, not government control; that would be counter to a Libertarian belief of minimuim Gov. By most standards the founding fathers of the US had a very libertarian belief in the role of the Fed, I am a fan of many of those beliefs.

to answer your question in street:

republican and democrat= middle road with minor differences.
left and right=liberal and conservative which is simply a very left democrat or very right republican sometimes to the point where they are no longer considered a democrat or republican but nearly radical wether in religious or enviorment or economic views or radically anti opposing views.

or another way to look at it, is republicans and democrats are majorly accepted watered down views of the left and right.

the terms above are very simple terms slung around a whole lot to easily define ones chosen side. then from there, and further discussion, you can get into heavy talk about the sub groups and outside groups and perfectly label yourself.

generally the majority vote for mainstream republican or democrat politicians and even the extremists do also so they can help thier "cause" to move in the right direction and have a winning chance. voting hard left or hard right outside of the two major parties chosen reps usually isnt done as most consider it a wasted vote on a probable losing canidate.

Excuse my lack of knowledge on this subject but what is protest warrior?

Apparently it's a right-wing protest group that protests left-wing protest groups...I"d never heard of it before either.

I had a look at their web site. Not really sure what to think of them.
Some of their posters are kind of cool though.

Yup, nothing more than **** starters. While some of the focking leagalize pot rallies would be fun to crash, these guys seem like nothing more than people with too much time on their hands, starting **** just for the sake of starting ****.

Protest Warrior do pick some odd gigs to counter protest, I read that they crashed some women's rights march and rather than it being a gathering of shaven headed socialist woman kind it was mostly mature ladies with flasks and a picnic.
I bet they forgot to counter protest the group of White Nationalists that were protesting against America's assistance of Israel last year in DC.

I don't agree with a lot of what they say, but I don't think there's anything inherently hypocritical about protesting the far left. For example, with the whole Israel thing, against the far left they can use the funny-and-sarcastic "End the Unjust Occupation of Muslim Land" tee-shirt, but what do you use against Neo-Nazis who oppose Israel because they want to finish what Hitler started? Nothing. They already have zero credibility with anyone. There's no funny-and-sarcastic response to "kill the untermenschen."

Like I said, Protest Warrior is a bunch of right wingers and I don't agree with a lot of their views, but I don't see what they're doing is wrong. Whoever said that only people left of center got to march and wave signs?
