So I went shooting once, and I'm going to start doing it more often. Monthly or maybe even weekly. What are some essentials for the range? Or not even essentials, but clothes and other things that are recomended? Last time I wore a T-Shirt, long ****ie pants, and hiking boots, and I was uncomfortable as hell. Are there brands or specific items that you would suggest for range time?

I wear jeans and a shirt. I have my rifle/pistol case. That's about it.
Don't be the guy all decked out in some HSLD gear hwere they only letting you shoot bench rest.

No I don't want want to have that whole look, nor do I need it. I just thought maybe a good pair of shooting glasses, ear protection, etc.

Indoors, outdoors?
depending on what you are shooting, its always good to cover up so as to not get hot brass burns. I usually wear a boonie when im just rec. shooting to keep hot 5.56/7.62 from going down the back of my shirt.

Outdoors. A boonie would be good. I had some 5.56 shells land on my right arm a few times so maybe I could wear my old Wide Reciever's sleeve. Lol I just thought of that one.

Loose fitting pants and "flexible" shoes, that way you can easily kneel down for longer times without getting sore ankles, knees etc.
I preferred yellow tinted glasses, over normal ones

You might want to check with the range, some have rules on attire for the range. At a minimum I would suggest plugs and muffs (both inner and outer hearing protection), eye pro of your choice as long as it is safety not fashion eyewear, some type of hat billed or boonie, sunscreen, bug juice, comfortable shoes (no sandals/flip flops). You might want to wear long pants/sleeves for both shell and sun protection. I generally wear a long sleeve fishing shirt, lightweight sun pro. As for gear: Sharpie, staple gun/staples, targets, etc.

Also, don't be the guy that shows up at the range and sits right next to someone else when there's 14 other open spots. Usually they move after the first giant cloud of blackpowder goes off....:)

Wear the gear that the guy in your avatar was wearing, and you'll be set.
Make sure to let the other guys at the range know that you're "preparing for a classified mission" so that they'll be suitably impressed, but make sure not to give out too many details; just a few "hints" here and there about "going back to the desert" and how Afghan president Hamid Karzai is "a really straightforward guy when you talk to him".
Also, don't forget to mention how much you hate the heat "over there".
