REGIMENTAL PRAYER
Almighty, merciful, and loving Father,
you are the one who hears all our prayers and grants our petitions.
We ask you to remember, as we do,
the tremendous sacrifice made by those who went before us.
They have given their lives so that we might live and breathe freely.
We ask you to receive them into your hands.
Father, give us the strength and wisdom to learn from their example,
to uphold freedom and life at home and around the world.
Keep us vigilant as we guard the frontiers of freedom.
Give our leaders the wisdom and the strength to lead well.
Grant all of us courage and confidence.
Be, for all of us, troopers, a wise counsel in keeping peace
and a strong shield for us against our enemies.
Oh heavenly Father, give us the determination
that the peace and freedom won at such a high price be lasting!
Father, hold all of the troopers in the palm of your almighty hand
and protect them in the shadow of your wings.
Amen.

The press is still calling them "civilians" and "office workers," ridiculous:

Four Civilians Working for U.S. Company Killed in Ambush in Baghdad, Polish Official Says
The Associated Press
WARSAW, Poland June 6, 2004 — Four civilians working for a U.S. company in Iraq were killed in an ambush in Baghdad, the Polish Foreign Ministry said Sunday.
The four, two Americans and two Poles working for Blackwater Security Consulting, were killed Saturday afternoon when a convoy they were traveling was ambushed, said Boguslaw Majewski, the spokesman for Poland's Foreign Ministry.

That would tie in,as it was Blackwater who was hit,I didn't report the name,as it was not made public at the time, our lads missed this "contact" by 5 minutes. :(

Technically for polish goverment they were civilians... I heard about 30 ex-GROM soldiers are working in Iraq since last summer and more are to go.

As I read the article, my GF read it also...You know the outcome.... having spent a few holidays, b-days and the like away, my advice - LIE.
"that is not us, it's not what we do, honey; we will be there to train the new ICDC. Yeah, we mostly stay on the base; hell those asshats that run the show don't even let us go out with them! Yea there is danger, mainly driving from poitn A to B, be we will hardly ever do that as we work where we live."
Who cares if she thinks you have a support role v/s a higher profile "operator" role; I say give her the peace she will need to make it the duration. I'd take the mark on my soul rather than send her to the looney-bin w/worry.

I think it's sweet that you want to protect your wife from worry, but my guess is she worries regardless. I think I'd rather know the truth, but I guess I haven't really been in her position, so it's easy for me to speculate. It's obvious that you love her very much and want to make things as easy for her as possible. That makes you a good man in my book.

atleast this time they had a fighting chance,
since 3 of them ran for help.
Where did you hear this, they were hit by a 4 vehicle drive by,that blocked them, and engaged with small arms, there were upto 20 insurgents involved,if anyone left a vehicle they would have died mate, the ones killed were in a softskin vehicle, they had little or no chance.
Where would they have run to?The Armoured vehicles that BSC have, have state of the art comms mate, you only leave a vehicle if it's disabled,it was a 7 man PSD,4 were killed, who were in the softskin according to our reports, leavin the protection of an armoured vehicle is pretty stupid.
The PSD team who were hit last week, with the Brits were from our company, they were in armoured but doing 80mph when the tyres got hit, causing the vehicles to crash, the Iraqi driver was in the softskin.
Unless the info came direct from BSC then,I'd tend to distance it.
There is alot of stuff going on with BSC at the moment, they,so I'm told lost the Bremner contract,to Triple canopy, and are supposedly pulling it's Operation from Iraq..........now this maybe all ****e......but this is what our "Head Shed" are telling us.

We had "the talk". She read it behind me, so I didn't know she was reading it. But, she does know the risks, just as I do. And the way it sounds, I may not even be going there...Dammit!

Way to watch your six. ;) Farmgirl knows that I try to do and say what's best for my family, truth or not. There's a scar or two that I had to lie about, and there's been the occasional lie about where I was going. It's not real fun to have to lie, but it's fairly necessary. :|

As far as my daughter knew for a long time (probably to this day ;) ), I cook chow. My wife was an Army Nurse though, so sometimes it was more difficult to keep things from her. She was working at one of the hospitals that treated casualties from the Marine Barracks bombing in 1983, and well, that was a bit too close to home for her.
Rest in peace to our BSC friends.
Have a good one, and just some thoughts...

More from the "Shed".......they were travelling in a 2 car convoy,1 armoured 1 softskin, the vehicles were either laid up in wait,or they drove alongside, then attacked the vehicles.......killing 4 occupants of the softskin, and disabling the other vehicle, they did exchange fire, possibly killing several attackers, and they fire and manouevered across the road and legged it.
BSC will cease their Iraq Operations as soon as the handover takes place I believe.....focusing more on A-stan

There's an AAR on SOCNET in the TR regarding this. One of the survivors is a board member and like this board, some of the guys on socnet are doing the PMC over there in Iraq for BW.
