Brazil sent about 25,000 troops to Europe, where they fought against the Germans and Italians. The Brazilian Air Force flew missions against the Axis as well.
No Mexican ground forces served under their own flag, although many Mexican nationals served in the US forces. However, the Mexican Air Force sent a squadron of P-47s to join the war against Japan.
Brazilian aircraft flew in the markings of their own nation, but for some reason, the Mexican P-47s had a combination of US and Mexican insignia.

Dear Member,

A Cuban AF Kingfisher on wheels sank a German U-Boat during WW2.

PS. Mexico sent no ground forces as its Constitution provides that its armed forces can leave Mexican territory if two conditions are met: 1> There has to be a declaration of war and 2> Permission from the Mexican Congress. There was a declaration of war, but the Mexican Congress gave permission for only that one P-47 squadron to operate outside of Mexico in a conflict. It was the first and last time permission was given. Main reason why Mexico never sends forces to UN. Including Haiti where about ever Latin nation have forces under Brazil command.

There were Brazilian pilots who flew 145 ground attack missions with the USAAF’s 350th Fighter Group in Northern Italy. I didn't know of any other Central or South American countries that participated in WW-2 other than providing bases until, I read the previous postings -thanx guys.

Brazil provided bases in the northeast as a ferry point for planes and shipping across the Atlantic to West Africa and beyond.

Ecuador allowed the US to build several airfields on the Galapagos to protect the Panama Canal.

According to my uncle, a Japanese sub was spotted in one of the lagoons in Baja California Sur. The area was very remote at the time with no roads and plenty of desert.
