The Ship Underway Recovery capability has been with the SASR for a while now. Because Commandos are relatively new (the complete development of the entire range of their SF taskings didnt take place until mid 2000 - after their Timor deployment) and because up until these last two years they have been undermanned, the capability has only been integrated into the Commandos recently. When we (we being team Australia) took down to DPRK heroin smuggling vessel in the Coral Sea in 2003 the SAS went in by boat using the same skills diplayed here. Thanks to persistent training and plenty of personell swaps, both Commandos and the SASR have the SUR capability now.

Great pics.

Thanks for the link.

No problem, if you have any commentary to offer about the site I'd be grateful. I've recently got official support for it from the SF Training Centre at Singleton and hope to make some improvements in the coming months.

Im surprised to hear that given that if they have been doing their training properly they should look more like endurance athletes ie thin and lean. You must have caught them during the begining of selection - typical weight loss hovers around the 10-15 Kilos mark
