Thank you Poland for fighting side by side with Canadians. We together shed blood at Juno Beach, and that blood mixed together forming us into brothers.
May your sacrifices never be forgotten as well.

I was watching CNN Presents: Warsaw Ghetto Uprising last night. In it, the narrator said "June 6th 1944, D-Day. Now that American and British forces had stepped foot onto the continent...blah blah blah."
Not a single word about Canadian soldiers. :( :bash: :cantbeli: Typical American show.

In that pic you can clearly see that the Canadians advanced further inland than Brits, Look at the coastline and see how it curves in ;)

Dywizja Pancerna to chyba Panzer division, armored to bardziej zmechanizowana?
Panzer(ger)=Armoured(eng)=Pancerna(pol)
You are wrong mack Panzer is from german language, in english it is Armoured.
Zmechanizowana(pol)=Mechanized(eng) =/= Armoured
And this movie on CNN was about Warsaw Uprising in 1944 not Ghetto uprising 1943... And they mentioned that many ppl don't know about it or mix it with ghetto uprising... why? Becouse russians wanted to erradicate memory of it. And western allies did't want to talk much about it since they betrayed us (Jalta,Teheran). And this reminded them about that.. i.e Polish Independent Airborn Brigade was prepared to be dropt in warsaw when uprising begin but instead of that they were droped to Arnhem or more specificaly to Driel where they fighted until XXX corps arrived (they were dropt in wrong zone and did't had a chance to reach Arnchem despite they tried.
And finaly... Evenloyd thanx for this post. Now I know that not only my country was forgotten but also your... Polish Armed forces during ww2 in europe were 4th bigest (SU,USA,GB) even bigger than French and still not many ppl remember that... Not many ppl remember that Poland took part in D-Day not many remember that poland took part in Marked Garden not many remember that polish divisions stormed Berlin alongside russians and were first to fly a flag on brandenburg gate (well russians dropped it down before film crews arrived for propaganda reasons) Not many remember that polish navy helped to evacuate Dunkierque, to evacuate Canadians form Dieppe and that polish 303 division scored best at Battle of Britain... (127 kills) despite entering fight month after rest of airmans (they were undergoing training on new type of aircraft-spitfire,hurricane and scored first kills when they "run away" from it)

Polish Air Force and Navy covered the landing since the first day.
Our land forces weren't first on the beaches, but cutting off the Germans in Falaise pocket 1st Armoured finished the first phase of Allied operations in France.
Like our ex-prime minister said: "Mężczyznę poznaje się nie po tym jak zaczyna, ale jak kończy"
