Super duper pics!

Do they still use PT-76 in Dalnevostochnij? Are those some marines units or smth?

I liked those parade "license" plates :D . Do they install them on tanks too?

Truly speaking i don't know to which unit belongs PT. But I guess marines. :)

No, i didn't notice it.

To those who wonder, the license plates read "parade".

I wonder if they repave the streets each year?

Hehe, someone didn't study physics in high-school.

He-he, the tanks and tracked vehicles are made in such a way that their pressure to the ground is at the correlation of about 1 kg per 1 sq. cm, which is about the same as the correlation of a human weight pressuring the ground.
No need to repave the streets, common physics I guess.

Is it a S-300 air defence missile?

Yes, it is an S-300 TEL (Transporter Erector Launcher).

Note it is part of what NATO calls the SA-10 Grumble Family of missiles.

Note it is based on a wheeled chassis.

The Tracked S-300V system is a different system and should not be confused with this system. The S-300V is called SA-12 by NATO and is a fully tracked system that is more for defence from very high speed aeroballistic targets (like LANCE II rockets and SCUDs).

From my experience the only way a tank can damage a normal road is if it has some sharp relief.

Hehe, someone didn't study physics in high-school.

Physics? We aren't talking about ground pressure jack-ass. We are talking using metal treads on asphalt which gets torn up any time a tracked vehicle turns or the tread "slides"...

Because a tank tread has a lip to it you see. To give it a slight bite. Less so than say a bulldozer, but they are not smooth, otherwise they would slide when they tride to stop. Those edges are EXTREMELY abrasive on just about everything. It is aggravated when the vehicle turns.

This is one of the reasons why you do not see lots of parades in the United States with TANKS in them...the cities in my area all have ordinances against tracked vehicles in parades and fine heavily when they are found using streets.

And on a hot day a tank or a bulldozer will simply chew up asphalt. Concrete is much more resiliant, but then, they are not driving on concrete...

So, instead of being a smart-ass and increasing the already high signal to noise ratio of this forum, actually look at the photos. You can see the damage.

You right man, i already stated it in my message in Russian. But i suppose column damaged only parts ot road on turns. This can be easily repaired.

It is PT-76. Swimming and para-dropable. It is rather light. But who knows. May be hatch enchanced with hydraulics.

I stand corrected.
