Im sure you all remember the revelation of IPCC leadership, that their goal is redistribution of wealth (cant be more commie than that)
But apparently vegetarianism is another goal of theirs.

People should cut their consumption of meat (http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=627184) to help combat climate change, a top United Nations expert told a British Sunday newspaper.
Rajendra Pachauri, chair of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), told The Observer that people should start by having one meat-free day per week then cut back further.

The 68-year-old Indian economist, who is a vegetarian, said diet change was important in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and environmental problems associated with rearing cattle and other animals.

"Give up meat for one day (per week) initially, and decrease it from there," he said.

"In terms of immediacy of action and the feasibility of bringing about reductions in a short period of time, it clearly is the most attractive opportunity."

Other small-scale lifestyle changes would also help to combat climate change, he said without elaborating.

"That's what I want to emphasise: we really have to bring about reductions in every sector of the economy."

Dr Pachauri is due to give a speech in London on Monday under the title: "Global Warning: the impact of meat production and consumption on climate change".

Dr Pachauri, who was re-elected for a second term six-year term as IPCC chairman last week, has headed the organisation since 2002 and oversaw its seminal assessment report in 2007 which gave graphic forecasts of the risks posed by global warming.

The IPCC warned then that without action the planet's rising temperatures could unleash potentially catastrophic change to earth's climate system, leading to hunger, drought, storms and massive species loss.

The organisation also won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 along with former US vice president Al Gore.

Seems he is harping about a well balance diet. We eat a variety of ethnic meals, some have no meat in them. According to health people, eat more fish. works for me too.

Also he did not call for no more BBQ........... there is a anti-BBQ crowd out there, because of "emissions".

If they say no more BBQ and or Beer.................. then it is war/revolution/civil strife/etc

I think I will BBQ today, just because of this.

Rajendra Pachauri, chair of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)

this guy seems like a Hindu from Indian OF course he does not want us eating beef, it a religious thing he is getting at, and using his position in the UN to push his religious beliefs.

The key phrase is "Give up meat for one day (per week) initially, and decrease it from there," he said.

Screw the UN. My next animal roast on my patio is dedicated to Mr. Pachauri. If God did not want us to eat animals, then why did he make them out of meat?

Also a interesting, a new view is to cut down on glycemic foods, there is a glycemic food index. Depends on person and current diet.

@ H,

screw these commie big power greedy people seeking to remove joy from out lives. If the messiah gets elected I can see this being on his agenda too, and the his new religion will be preached across the US, with the holy prophet Al Gore shouting eat no meat, drive no cars, no TV's over 10", pay 99% tax, have no freedoms. NO FISHING, NO HUNTING FUN IS NOT ALLOWED.

That is the first line of our defense to preserve our rights to beer and BBQ.

Once they disarm us, they will grab our beers and BBQ. Then we all become girly men.

Not gonna happen.

I think humans should try and breathe less too. Imagine if everyone held their breaths for 30 seconds every hour, it would mean so much less evil CO2 released into the atmosphere...

IPCC is highly politicized and it's completely absurd that they are regarded by many as some sort of authority.

I can just imagine a spokesperson for the beef companies holding up an 18oz medium-rare angus steak and saying "From my cold dead fingers..." I think Texas would declare war on the IPCC in the end.

The Donald says: EAT MORE MEAT!

p.s.- Just out of curiousity, does Chic Fillet donate large sums of money to the IPCC? Are there any "Eat mur chiken" signs around their area?

Long ago, we would out for pizza with friends who were or professed to be veggies. They would talk us into splitting a pizza. Out of stupidity on my part, we would agree. I always get a larger pizza than necessary, because I love left over pizza.

So we get this giant pizza half veggie half full meal meat deal. Guess what those veggies would eat only one piece of veggie pizza each and then ravenously attack the full meal mean meat side. Only left over pizza was the half a pizza with only two pieces gone of the veggie part.

NEVER TRUST VEGGIES.

Probably no harm in cutting back on red meat if your male and over 30, I eat fish every day though I do eat a fair bit of game meat.
