Chalk up another good judgement call on the part of the Bush administration. At least one can tell what the militants want more or less, which ones are on our side and which ones aren't. It's the Iraqi politicians who are confusing. The nations change, the lack of likeable politicians stays the same. Well, at least nations are about people and ideas, not politicians. :|

Plain and simple...He was on the payroll because he was telling Bush what he wanted to hear.

Yeah, the dollar figure that this turd was pulling down seems a bit high. I think that he was splitting the dough with some other folks...i.e. the money he got was not just for him. Reports talk about Chalabi's "network" in Iraq. So I suppose maybe it's not too outrageous.
I wouldn't be so quick to point the finger at Bush. After all, Bush is the guy who stopped paying him...not the guy who started paying him. He's been on the pentagon teet for how long now? I've been trying to dig it up, but it appears this goes back to Clinton and 1997. Don't shoot the messenger, as they say.
All HUMINT is potentially as ****ty as its' source. And this guy appears to be ****tier than most.

I think the dough was being funneled through DIA. It just seems like a sum all out of propotion to any benefit we were supposedly gaining. He's a hell of a snake oil salesman. I'll give him that.

Bush stopped paying him because Chalabi embarassed the hell out of Bush when the tons of WMDs werent found. His decision to cut Chalabi's money had nothing to do with trying to "right a wrong".
