Intelligence Chief Warns America’s Iraqi Situation will Hurt Israel
12:18 Jun 01, '04 / 12 Sivan 5764
(IsraelNN.com) Chief of Army Intelligence Major-General Aaron Ze’evi-Farkash warned cabinet ministers during a special security briefing yesterday that America’s growing problems in Iraq will have a negative impact on Israel. The senior officer explained that as America’s situation grow more precarious, additional pressure will be exerted on Israel to make concessions to the PA.
Ze’evi Farkash added that conservatives in the US such as General Anthony Zinni are already pointing a finger in the direction of Israel, blaming Jerusalem for America’s decision to go to war, primarily to protect Israel’s interests. The intelligence commander is also concerned that if Washington is isolated in the international community due to its presence and activities in Iraq, it will neutralize the White House’s ability to intercept European pressure against Israel.
