Hello,
Does anyone know what color were the Face Masks that UDT Frogmen wore during WWII? I assume they were black. Are there any color pictures of them somewhere?
Best,

Lol i see you have posted this on other forums. I did a quick google but as the pictures are black and white, its a bit hard to determine colour. All the best with your search.

I don't know the answer, but these guys do.

Most museums will assist in research directed at their field of study.

Having owned and handled WW2 vintage dive gear, they were most likely made of black (or less likely natural-tan or even a very dark blue) gum rubber or vulcanized rubber, with a glass face plate and stainless steel hardware.
But of course as was mentioned in the above post, check with the pros at the UDT/Seal Museum in Ft Pierce, FL for the most authoritative answer.

Do you mean the actual dive mask? or the hood that goes over the head?
I don't have an answer for either, just trying to wrap my head around the minutia of the question.

The actual dive mask that they wore over their face. Thanks to everyone for the answers so far.
Cheers,
