Usually entertaining films are generally crap, while not so entertaining films are generally better.
The world works in mysterious ways.
I liked Unforgiven,
"You just shot shot an unarmed man!"
"He should have armed himself if he's gonna decorate his saloon with my friend."
" All right now, I'm comin' out. Any man I see out there, I'm gonna shoot him. Any sumbitch takes a shot at me, I'm not only gonna kill him, but I'm gonna kill his wife. All his friends. Burn his damn house down."
Gringo: Not as turned on, but thanks for the effort. You're right, it doesn't feel like a western, but it sure as heck felt like a damn entertaining flick!
Usually entertaining films are generally crap, while not so entertaining films are generally better.
I have difficulties with this statement as if a film is not entertaining, I can't see how it can be good. Now, there are some films that are so bad they are entertaining, but I can't think of any film that is so good it is not entertaining. Isn't entertainment the point of movies?
I liked Unforgiven,
And I agree that Unforgiven is a good--and thus an entertaining--movie. ;)
"Deserve's got nothin' to do with it."
"I've killed women and children. I've killed everything that walks or crawls at one time or another. "
Great stuff, delivered by a true master of the genre.
Double post. Stupid work machine.
Though I suppose this wouldn't have happened were I actually working.

Another Oxymoron. Think of a film that is VERY entertaining, with lots of action, comedy, whatever. Would you consider it one of the greatest film ever?
Think of Citizen Kane, considered one of the greatest films of all time, would you find it more entertaining then the film you're thinking of above?

Well, considering some of my all-time favourite movies include Blade Runner, Aliens, SW and Raiders of the Lost Ark, um, yes.
Think of Citizen Kane, considered one of the greatest films of all time, would you find it more entertaining then the film you're thinking of above?
In actuality, I love Citizen Kane. I wore out my VHS of it and am planning on buying it on DVD. In certain situations--depending on my mood--yes, I find Citizen Kane more entertaining than those listed above. It really depends on what I want to watch at the moment.

Anything with Kevin Costner would turn anyone off.

It does have some really great writing delivered by some good actors. The only part of the movie that really bugged me was near the end, Wyatt and his gang VS the Cowboys montage. It just seemed a lot of riding and shooting. But that's really just a nitpick.
"He reminds me of . . . me. I think I hate him."
I didn't mind it, but something about Kevin Costner turns me off.

Too true, though he did one movie a while back called "Perfect World" which was quite good. I think Eastwood directed it.
"Wyatt Earp" disappointed me because IIRC it was directed by Lawrence Kasdan who had done such a good job with "Silverado." Likely it was the Costner-effect that suckified Wyatt.
