I know this might not be the right way to word this but which award is more senior or which one takes precedence? This is not an invitation that says the Commonwealth or the USA is the best. I just want to know who would be accorded more respect. Thanks,

They are equal. The problem is they're usually awarded posthumously. :(

I think what he means is that, say someone was awarded both of them, which ribbon would be worn first?

Well, as far as i'm aware the CMH can only be awarded to US citizens, hence the only people that will be wearing both will probably be US citizens and, following that, I would have thought they'd wear the CMH ribbon first.

Maybe, i'm wrong about the CMH only being awarded to US citizens though, i'm not sure.

Concerning which award takes precendence they're both the highest awards of two different countries hence neither takes precedence, they're equal.

I believe that president Bush awarded an SBS soldier the CMH for his herroic actions in Afghanistan

According to this (http://www.cmohs.org/medal/medal_faq.htm#5A) it's not necessary to be a US citizen to win the Medal of Honor but you must be in the US military, presumably this means a foreign soldier on an exhange to the US military could be awarded one, though it has been awarded posthumously to unknown soldiers of various countries including Britain and France. I don't know enough to comment on the story of the SBS soldier with any degree of certainty or knowledge but to me it seems unlikely.

If a Commonwealth soldier was some how able to be given a CMH (and was able to wear it), and he was also the holder of a VC he would wear the VC first because that is the highest medal in our system of awards and vica versa for a US soldier.
From what I can gather both awards would be given for similar deads and they are both the highest medal that a soldier would recieve for bravery/courage ect from his own country.
I don't know about the Brits but Australia rarely lets soldiers wear medals from another country e.g. there aren't any diggers getting around with purple hearts or bronze stars ect from Korea or Vietnam.

This link http://www.itsanhonour.gov.au/pdf/foreign_awards.pdfshows the ins and outs of Australians recieving foreign medals. It looks like it depends a bit on who is currently the Prime Minister, Govener General (Queens representitive) and Chief of Defence.
Our current Govener General was the CO of SASR and holds the Military Cross, so if you earnt a foreign medal you might be a chance of being able to recieve and wear it.

Help with the US side of things

I don't know the answer either. MoH is worn around the neck, is The VC also worn around the neck? If so I think you would only wear one.

If someone received both, well . . . wow. I say they can wear them any way they want and everyone else can take a flying F.

As digrar stated, if it were possible that someone recieve both medals, then the medal of his/her nation would take precedence over the other medal.

Not to say either one is more valuable than the other, because they are both equal in all regards.

Mark - The VC is not worn round the neck, it is worn normally.
