Celebrate Diversity: Proper Behavior on Ramadan (http://www.snappedshot.com/archives/2884-Celebrate-Diversity-Proper-Behavior-on-Ramadan.html)

A homeless man in Brussels was beaten to a pulp this past Friday. His assailants were arrested and will presumably be charged with assault and battery soon, but what's genuinely shocking is the reasoning behind the attack (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rtlinfo.be%2Fnews%2Farticle%2F171637%2F--un%2Bsdf%2Btabasse%2Bavec%2Bune%2Bbarre%2Ba%2Bclou&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&sl=fr&tl=en).
You see, the two assailants were Muslim men, who when walking by in the street, became enraged that this homeless man had the sheer audacity to drink during Ramadan.
In a (presumably) non-Muslim country!
According to eyewitness accounts, "The father started screaming at him that he had 'no right to drink during Ramadan,'" which doesn't sound all that "peaceful" or "tolerant" to me.
Then again, we Christians are always the ones that Islamists and their allies on the Left think are at fault. I guess that's what we deserve for trying to be all "helpful" (http://www.nashvillerescuemission.org/ministries.htm) and stuff.

Stupid vagrant. Doesn't he know that getting in the way of righteously offended muslims fists is a violation of their human rights!
"In a (presumably) non-Muslim country!"
i love this sentence, i really do :) cause somethimes when i go to Brussels and look around, i really think i'm in a different country.

Easy solution:find the assailants and beat them to a pulp while drinking during Ramadan
My work is done here,I go now
....Wow seriously wtf is with western european muslims. I can go to the most radical muslim in Toronto and eat a pork and bacon sandwich with a glass of vodka during ramadan and i wouldnt be touched. Now i bet there will be riots and clashes with police in Brussels because the men were arrested for beating up a homeless guy.

They feel the need to be "Super Muslims" for some reason. Maybe to make up for moving from their places of origin and culture.

Is rioting, burning, looting and killing not allowed during ramadan.....or is it part of the festivities in Western Europe now?

Last time I visited Brusseles, I felt like driving over a market in Kabul ... (was there with my University course, in "not the best" part of the town) ... I saw at least 100 woman wearing burkas, coffee houses and strange arab internet cafes all over the place ...
Visit Brusseles and walk into the Area behind the Grand Justice Palace, your eyes will fall off I can tell you ...

A couple of years back a guy was attacked on a bus in Amsterdam for eating a sandwich during ramadan, I saw it happen and it was pretty brutal.

Force them to adhere to Western laws as a punishment
ie - If their work requires a shaved beard, they must shave it, etc etc.

So were the attackers Belgian citizens?
If not, will they be flown back to their heavenly Islamic paradise of a homeland after serving time in prison?

They will be Belgian citizens more than likely.
The EU gave out citizenship like complimentary confectionary. So did Australia by the way.

Newcastle University has a huge booze up during Ramadan. Quite funny since the only places on campus that sell food also serve booze. It can see the devout Muslims cringe at the behavior of typical uni students.
Fun times.

I find this horrible, our homeless drunks should be protected against €vil islamists, as they are in valuable part of our society and culture.
Okay, this is bit against principles of citizenship, but immigrants should have mark of their origin in their personal records to 3rd generation. For reason of possible deportation to source of trouble, when doing crimes that are clearly cultural by origins. If they can not or will not want to integrate to our society and it's cultural standards.

All of the West should not give out citizenship so readily. Long term visas fine, permanent residency fine. All of which can be whisked away. But in most places you can never revoke citizenship.

A friend of mine was in France a few years back to see some football tourney, I think it was the World cup so it must've been a while back, and she was shocked to see the cops beating the crap out of some disorderly African "street people" under a bridge. I'm not sure what happened to precipitate that (maybe pickpockets, whatnot), but another guy I know was just over there recently in the Paris area and he saw a Japanese tourist get the smackdown after he repeatedly climbed statues so that friends could take pictures of him. The police beat him down with a stick and then yelled at him about the signs posted in many languages which said "don't climb on the statues". Nobody else climbed on the statues after that.
that kind of "correction" seems OK to me if it stops bad crowd behavior or even crimes...
Civvies beating a guy because their religious sensibilities are offended? No way....
Oh, and my 500th post!

That bit sarcastic comment, but we still lack a sarcasm smiley... okay this one p-) is often used in that purpose. I live a large city (on local scale) in central area, in rather big apartment building (about 150 flats), doors are normally closed 24/7 but still these anti-social individuals somehow find their way in especially on winter... they often mess stairs and corridors with urine, sh!t, vomit and broken bottles. Personally I have often been tempted to use violence to improve cleanliness of building, but as of now I have been happy with services security guards that apartment company uses and police department. Even worse than drunks are junkies, I have seen needles here couple times too.

I was under impression that cursing (let alone violence) is something strictly forbidden during Ramadan.
Hah. Now i see how hard Calanen believes in his own world.
The news article comes from a very shabby news service. Not one major or trustworthy belgian newspaper/newschannel picked up this news, and normally, they would be all over these things.
So i highly doubt the authencity of this story.
But ofcourse, anything which adds 'muslims' and 'taking over europe' must be true in calanen's book.
Perhaps you should first check the credibility of your sources.
It's like i would post a news item from the Onion or the Daily Mail to prove a point.

so was this homeless dude mouthing off to these people (which failed miserably in their religion btw) or they just attacked him because of low blood sugar? what a strange case...
and yes, i agree with the suggestion that immigrants should have 3 generations to immigrate properly into society or risk having their citizenship taken away. Just imagine a bunch of Westerners going to Saudi Arabia and imposing christian values and conduct on the population there...
Why is this worth posting?
Blacks, Muslims etc. often get a good beating for being just that. And so does white people, Christians and so forth, for the very same reasons.
Happens all the time. It sucks, but it's not like Muslims invented racist/religious related violence.

I ve walked around couple of times in Brussels at night when i used to go out there and i never had any trouble.

While I went to Brussels for the first time I was amazed from the amount of people of middle east origin. For a finn who had not traveled much that was a really shocking. Also, when I were out at night I had hard time to spot "white" people from the crowd. Might also have something to do with us being located close to immigrant neighbourhood.

The thing about Brussels is that the "ghetto" is located in the city, not in the suburbs.

I mean they beat him up for that reason.

Majority of Muslims in Arab countries want non-believers to be forced to observe Ramadan
A survey in Arab countries conducted by Maktoob Research shows that 62 per cent of Muslims think that non-Muslims living in Muslim countries should not eat or drink in public during Ramadan, while 52 per cent believe that all restaurants should be closed during the day — even to non-believers — as a mark of respect to Islam. The survey included 6,128 respondents from across the Arab world.

The social democrats
How should social democrats be beatten?
I see them as viable political option. One of most important political groups in Europe. Do you see them as threat to existence of humanity? Or do you just dislike group thats major agendas are social equality, free health care and free education. As such they are just as real politik oriented than moderate right wing parties, and as corrupted rest of politicians.

A quote from the Brussels newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, 19 September 2008 (http://www.nieuwsblad.be/Article/Detail.aspx?ArticleID=0G20L7K6)
Tramp Beaten Up For Drinking Beer During Ramadan
A forty-year old homeless man almost died when he was beaten up in Brussels by a man and his father, both Muslims, because he was drinking beer during the Ramadan. Rachid, the 19-year old culprit, beat his victim Serge with an iron bar with nails.
A few days ago Serge had an appointment with a doctor in a policlinic in Blaes Street. He arrived early and, since he had to wait, Serge opened a can of beer. At that moment an elderly Muslim who lives above the policlinic came downstairs. He objected to Serge drinking a beer in public during Ramadan, the Muslim fast. Things escalated when his son Rachid came downstairs, too.
Father and son beat up Serge. They threw him out of the building on a pile of rubbish bags. Amidst the rubbish Rachid found an iron bar studded with nails. He seized the bar and smashed it in on Serge. The tramp tried to protect his face with his arms, but could not prevent the bully from hitting an artery on his legs. Blood poured from the wound.
An eye-witness called the police. Meantime a group of youths had joined in beating up Serge.
The victim was immediately taken to hospital. He had lost two liters of blood. The doctors confirm that it is a miracle that Serge survived his ordeal. The police arrested Rachid. His father tried to take his place, but that did not happen.

I bet the father is regretting his decision now. Hopefully his son will do some time. I say 'hopefully' because in this mixed up world, the true victim is the perp who was provoked into the attack and Serge, should be more understanding. That is if he was in a coherent condition to be.
Question for the Belgians. Is the migration and citizenship process easy for a non-EU person?
