A reporter from Al Hura jokingly asked him if he would be willing to give the new Iraqi Prime Minister Saddam's pistol as a gift.

Quote Pres. Bush:
"Members of a Delta team came to my office to present the pistol Saddam had with him when he was captured"

Who is he talking about? Delta? Whats that? Seriously though I didn't know he was allowed to talk about the Dreaded D to the media.
I didn't catch whethter he said he would or not though, but I bet he wants to keep that baby. I don't think it would be wise to give a way a gift given by Delta Force :P

Okay then how about the President can't do whatever is his whim. A President must be re-elected every four years. A President is only a third of the tri-governing system in the US. It is only a hollywood image that the President has omnipotent powers.

True, but when the republican party also has a majority in the parlement (sp) you've already got two thirds. ;)

And yeah, I know the president isn't like the emperor...just don't take any joking too serious. ;)

He obviously meant the Delta airlines flight crew that flew the gun across the pond.

And this belief that Bush alone started the war is dead wrong.

Bush started the war after 1) a Unanimous resolution was passed in the UN security council demanding Iraq cooperate or face force. 2)Congress passed a bill allowing for it. 3)Saddam Hussein failed to leave Iraq or step down despite pressure from the West and the Arab world.

Bush started the war on his own?

How about more than 60% of American citizens supported the war when it began?

How about coalition of Willing that sent troops and support for the war?

Australia, Great Britain, Poland, Ukraine - these countries not only supported the war, they were active participants of that war.

Or we're playing double standard, since Poland is a "small" country it support does not count, but when it is usefull, we say that Burundi and Indonesia condemn America's action.

If you know it - say it! Otherwise, shut up!

Why do you all flip out when someone says "delta force" or something related.

Everyone knows it exsists, everyone knows its mission, everyone knows where they are located (heck, you can walk around their compound it if you want), they are in movies, books, and documenteries.

ITS NOT A BIG DEAL.

actually if you go to bragg and get a little too close to theior compound you will actually have your sorry ass escorted away in a hurry unless you have a legitimate reason for being there but I do understand what your saying it can be a little bothersome

I'll concede that Bush shouldn't get blamed entirely for the war if you'll concede that Bush shouldn't get as much credit for the war as many have given him, and as he has sought for himself. ;)

Have a good one, and just some thoughts...

I've talked to a number of cadets who were at Pope AFB for the summer and ran around their compound every morning hoping to catch a glimpse of a Delta member. They never saw one, (or anyone else for that matter, and no one told they to stay away) but still had fun looking at the crazy security.

1) we arent "small" country  38 milions citizens,more than 312 000 km^2 ;)
2) Ukraine didnt sent combat unit to Iraq(only some antichemical units, like Czech Rep., Slovakia etc.), so only Poland, GB and Aussies support USA in this war in first line of fighting ;)
