Staff Sgt. Rodney L. Pfeifer, a truck mechanic with 3rd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, hands toys to Iraqi children in Al Kabani, Iraq, on June 8, 2004. Donations, including candy, toys, shoes and school supplies, are collected and shipped by the Marines' families and friends in the United States so they can be given to Iraqis. Marines visited the fishing village to break ground for a water purification system that will bring clean water to two villages and as many as 3,000 people near Camp Taqaddum. The $146,000 project was funded by a Coalition Provisional Authority program that allows commanders to identify and support civil affairs projects in their areas. The Iraqi contractor plans to hire locals to construct the system, while Marines will visit the site regularly to ensure the work is satisfactory. The job is expected to be completed by the end of June. Elements of the battalion provide security for the 1st Force Service Support Group at the camp. Pfeifer, 36, is from Aurora, Neb.

The United Nations has suspended a massive construction project in Jenin refugee camp after Palestinian gunmen repeatedly threatened U.N. work crews, a U.N. official said Thursday. The gunmen were sent by camp residents who complained that their new houses, replacing those razed in bruising Israeli incursions in 2002 and last year, won't be big enough, said Sami Mshasha, a spokesman for the U.N. agency overseeing the work.

That round is clearly ricocheting off the ground a few feet farther back. Not through his chest.

Keep in mind though, that for every tracer round you see, there are 4 M855 ball rounds (assuming it's an M249 SAW being fired) you can't. Those are the ones striking the ground in the right foreground.

Nevertheless, the man died from the other wounds he suffered between the few framegrabs that are available.

I'd be interested in seeing the full video, just to get an idea for the sequence of events. Can anyone locate it?

R.I.P.

Hardly. Al-Sadr's Imam Mahdi gunmen are not fighting for a free and representative Iraq.

They are doing the bidding of Muqtada al-Sadr, complicit in ordering the brutal knife murder last year of a rival cleric, Ayatollah Sayyed Abdul Majid al-Khoei.

They have attacked and killed Iraqi policemen who operate under the control of the new Iraqi government. They just ransaked the Najaf police station and murdered Six Iraqis and are responsible for wounding eight children. American forces refused to intervene because the fighting was too close to Shiite shrines and because it was unclear whether al-Sadr was trying to subvert the truce.

However, I do think it is wrong to gloat and celebrate the death of others, even an enemy ...

You are very very sick! "Your family" killed Germans because they where 1) occupied by the germans, or 2) fighting as a soldier against the Germans. Proberly that the "proudly" killed Germans where 18 year old kids that didn't had a choise and where ordered to fight in combat. Well, that's definatly a reason to be happy about :fork: ! You just enjoying to see people getting shot. And that is VERY insane! That that Iraqi is shot doesn't matter me, because he wanted to kill also. It was self defence. But it's still not a reason to laugh. Did you also laugh when that American head was cut of? Proberly you did, because you like it.
Why do you insult AVZ anyway? Because your family told that Germans are bad? Are you goeing to tell YOUR children that all Iraqi's are bad, and that you had so much fun seeing them dieing :bash: !?!?!
By saying things like that ("I like to see Iraqi's getting shot"), will only make the Iraqi's hate Americans/ coalition forces more. I don't think that's a very wise act to do.

I find it very disgusting see all you americans cheering everytime there's pic posted that shows Iraqi insurgents get shot!!!!

Holy **** IT'S NOT JUST F*CKING US AMERICANS WHO ARE DOING THE CHEERING. "All you Americans" What kind of **** is that? Did you see me going "YAYAYAYYAAY woot woot OMG TANGO DOWN!!111" NO. So stop grouping all of the Americans here into a group of dumb retards. I presonally see FIVE different people from FIVE different countries other than the US cheering over this picture - and one or two that don't have their location listed. Oh yeah, ALL those Americans, damn them to hell.

Anyone else wanna sound like a dumbass?

ALL those Americans

@ Vancs:

Sorry for this generalisation. I did not want to offend you. But it was my first impression that those stupid posts have been send by americans. Again sorry.

By saying things like that ("I like to see Iraqi's getting shot"), will only make the Iraqi's hate Americans/ coalition forces more. I don't think that's a very wise act to do.

Nothing more to add - perfect

those stupid posters should think about that one ;)

It seems like the sleeping minority was woken up by their unproffeional posts woot

To Tengu: I'd like to say one thing to you: You're brainwashed buddyhaha??

And if i may add; those german f*** weren't the most pleasant people, my family experienced nazi occupation first hand. And those terror f*** stand for the same kind of insane regime.

so are u trying to say all germans are nazis???? why dont u say all americans too because they killed nearly all those indians and what about the blacks still hated by many white people and the kkk where was it found in america but that dosent mean all americans are racist and neither are all germans so the next time dont say german f.u.c.k.e.r.s. say nazi f.u.c.k.e.r.s.

Maybe the guy was standing in the midlle of the street because that was where he could get the angle he needed to make his shot.
I dont think you should neccesarily lock a thread like this. For some people it might be educational to read how other people react to their posts.

I am commenting on the Palestinian images and captions, why would they send gunmen to threaten the UN workers? What the Hell is going on?! The UN is there to help!
All I every hear is UN this, go to the UN over that, we got to get the UN involved. Blah, Blah, Blah. Now the UN is there to build them homes and they are threatening them! What the hell? If they (UN) cannot do its job, you sure as hell cannot expect anyone else too! What a crock! My impression, the Palestinians always take, take, take and what have they given to ensure peace (NOTHING!) Not a D_ _N thing. But, everyone bitches and moans if the Israeli shoot someone or blow up a house. (btw, to take out gunmen, not kill your local sheep herder!)

As for Iraq, enough of the kids crap, the US and Allies (Do not make me list them all) are there now and are doing a DAMN good job at that! (Who else would do it!?) Brazil? no! Mozambique? No! Portugal? No! Nor the UN they were to busy getting oil under the embargo! (Hell, the cannot build houses in Jenin, without the PLO Mafia coming to rough them up)
As for the US and it's Allies conduct on post-war operations. Again, well done given the scope and scale of this mission. BTW, if the PRC PLA had invade this piece squat, (Operation Sun Tzu) they would have rolled over this place like a steam roller. And then set-up a egg roll commune! And you would NOT have seen it on the news, because they would have had a media blackout! How do you like that sobering thought!? (if you are in doubt to the PLA ability to conduct war, research the Korean War or the Vietnamese border War of 1979)

Yes, it must be nice to live in some European (or the USA for some of you) country, with safety and security. Lounging around, having all these nebulous thoughts and sipping a Latte. But, think before you post in the future.

Good intentions are fine, but not all intentions are good.
