A U.S. soldier from 5th Battalion, 7th Air Defence Artillery secures an area during a joint military training with Bulgarian army soldiers at Novo Selo military base near the town of Sliven, some 350 km (217 miles) east of Sofia, October 9, 2008. Though the Socialist government agreed in 2006 to host up to 2,500 U.S. troops at three bases in Bulgaria, opinion polls show that a majority of people fear their presence could make them a potential target for attack rather than provide protection. Picture taken October 9, 2008.

A Congolese soldier passes by a tank of the Congolese army during a break due to the fog while fighting against rebels in the Mulindi Mountains, near Tongo, about 65 kilometers north west of the provincial capital of Goma, on October 14, 2008. The Democratic Republic of Congo's powderkeg east is being bled dry as Kinshasa and Rwanda refuse to bury the hatchet and marauding militias plunder its bountiful mineral wealth, analysts say.

Why not just give them to the Iraqis? Too sensitive of equipment, or too many flying hours logged on these birds??

not in IDF's regular ground forces.
some reserves units, like mine (a tankr) still get it. maybe some artillary or AA units get it also.
I saw some private security personal who get the Glilon (short Galil) in some places and I thought its strange because it looks alot like the AK47 from a distance - and that could lead to friendly fire accidents in some situations.

i see that israeli use a large aray of weapons m4,tavor and so on.
The Tavor is gradually entering service among regular infantry forces (first Givati and recently Golani). It will eventually replace the M4.

It was replaced by M-16 among infantry due to M-16's lighter weight and longer effective range.

The answer to your question is that they are dirty ABU's. When you work out in the dirt and practically sleep in it, I imagine it would be difficult to keep your uniform looking prim and proper. How do I know this answer you might ask? I am his wife.
