RICHARDSON, Texas -- Two people died Thursday in a highway argument that ended when a man pulled a woman from their car, pushed her off an overpass into oncoming rush hour traffic and then jumped about 80 feet to his death.

Witnesses told police the 30-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were arguing in their 2000 Mercedes on the shoulder of the President George Bush Turnpike just north of Dallas, said Sgt. Kevin Perlich, a spokesman for the Richardson Police Department.

The man got out of the car and forcibly removed the woman from the car and pushed her off the overpass while she struggled with him," Perlich said. "Pretty quickly after that the man jumped."

The woman landed on the hood of a car traveling on U.S. Highway 75, which carried her a short distance before she fell off and was hit by another car, Perlich said. She was ****ounced dead at the scene.

The woman's body was about 100 feet down U.S. 75 from the overpass. A marker just beneath the overpass indicated where the man's body fell.

The man did not die immediately after his jump, Perlich said. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

No one traveling on U.S. 75 was injured, but the hood, bumper and front end of a Crown Victoria was heavily damaged. It wasn't immediately clear whether the vehicle was the one on which she landed or the one that struck her.

The relationship between the two was not immediately known. Police did not release their identities pending notification of relatives.

The woman's body remained on the highway and southbound traffic along a three-mile stretch of U.S. 75 was at a standstill almost two hours after the accident as police investigated the scene.

Police said at least a half dozen people witnessed the altercation on the bridge. They were questioned and then ushered from the scene by authorities.

I often wonder why people don't get involved. If you saw a woman being forcablely dragged from a vehicle towards the railling.... even if you didn't think he'd throw her over..... would you get out and help her?

Yes I agree more people should get involved in these type of disputes even if only to try and calm both parties down.
I was standing outside a bar one night when a guy run out of it with some woman chasing him, she caught up with him and grabbed hold of him, it turns out that she had dropped her watch and this guy picked it up and made off with it. I approached them and persuaded him to give back the watch, he finally gave it back and then took off again. The woman then turned on me lashed out at me and tried to kick me in the nuts shouting that I had helped the guy get away, to make matters worse her daughter came out and started on me thinking that I had stolen the watch. In the end after much screaming from them I had to tell them that I was going to flatten their noses if they did not f*ck off. The woman now knows that I had helped her, yeah I would do it again. :)

I once stopped a guy that was leaving a mall with a toddler that was crying and screaming "I want my mommy". At first I just figured he was the dad, but then I thought about all the kids that are taken in broad daylight because no one ever questions anything. We are all too busy shopping and what not to care. So I went back and talked to the guy just outside the mall. His wife came out a few minutes later. I explained that if I had seen that little girl on the news later that night I couldn't have lived with myself. They were cool about it.

Ha ha we lost my little sister at an exhibition once and my Dad run up behind a kid with the same colour of hair with the same jacket on and started to berate the kid for running away only to find out that it was not ours. Lucky for him the real one arrived on the scene seconds later.

Kitty Genovese. There were too many people at the scene and they all passed that responsibility on to someone else. Typical group behavior.

what the feck....people cutting up their grandma...throwing their wife off an over pass...this is fecking messed upThe location probably a reason why people didn't attempt to stop this guy, the shoulder at this location is rather small and traffic could have run over them, a couple of years ago in the same area I seen a man jump off the top lane of traffic to about 120 ft. to his death, come to find out he was a doctor his wife and kids left him...

That's true. Stopping on just about any Dallas highway between 4 and 6 is taking your life in your hands.

Some people... Here in Atlanta, they just found the body of a 6 year old boy. His parents had been severly beating him for months. They lived in an apartment complex and none of the neighbors called the police, even though they heard everything through the walls. Makes me sick.

Not everybody's like that, though. A few years ago, my drunken (ex) boyfriend and I were walking out of a bar and saw a guy smack the tar out of a woman. My man went over and pounded the guy silly. Slightly misguided, but his heart was in the right place.
