Need some camcorder help

Hey ladies and gents,
Today some of my friends and I shot a movie for English class, now when I plug everything up right and enter the memorystick file, all I get is some lousy pictures and one video, is there any way to get the video from the cassete footage on to the computer?

You need a firewire attachtment on your camcorder and a firewire card in your pc...If you have minidv or digital 8.
