View Full Version : TV show: Combat Missions
The show is funny and that's all there is to it. They put a Vietnam veteran in missions, they put SWAT with military spec ops together and I never saw a mission where the teams didn't take casulaties. The SAS guys are so much better than any of those.

Yeah, or they set up an ambush on a checkpoint with 3 or 4 guards and take them down on the second clip. Dunno what was wrong, shoulda been awesome. They need another one, tho doesn't have to be a reality show. Getting tired of all these lawyer and cop shows. :)

It was a TV show dude, plain and simple. Take it for what it's worth..
That doesn't mean anything. There was a show on BBC called "SAS: are you though enough" that put civilians (men and women) through Selection (althoug they didn't do the escape and evasion stuff, only selection proper and jungle training). That show didn't even gave any award: they just did it for the sake of it. The Directing Staff was made of former SAS troopers. I was a nice show, they had an edurance expert and Barry Davies to comment. In Selection the DS decided not to make the full Long Drag, because of the state of ALL guys doing it. It was nice to see all those triathlon guys breaking after 10 minutes of bollocking by the DS or saying "oh I haven't eaten for 24 hours, I have blisters, can't go on". It show how really though the soldiers are.

i only remember seeing that show once or twice, but i could never figure out what they used for the milsim guns, was it airsoft? i remember seeing a mission where a guy started shooting someone else at a guard shack and the rounds where kicking up sand where they landed.....just added for effect maybe? i dunno, if anyone does, tell me
Hey Yosy, maybe there should be a show called, "Military Forum Wannabee's: Can they spell enough?"
LOL
Its: "TOUGH ENOUGH", not "THOUGH ENOUGH". ROFLMAO
By the way, I agree with you that the show was retarded.... Keep in mind that there were strict rules and time pressures to keep the "action" up and that the shows producers told them to do certain stupid things to make it more exhilerating for viewers..........Everything was set up from the begining so the camera guys could watch the action......and record it.....Not only that, it seems the MILES gear they had on those guns was ****.......In my opinion, they should have just loaded paint bullets....then it woulda been more real......
If you go by the show alone then those guys looked like your basic airsofters.....If you go by thier military records though, than I would put my money on them over the SAS any day......That guy from Vietnam had more covert operations under his belt and more decorations than probably any modern day SAS man............
Even today, US Spec ops are getting the lions share of the really great SF ops while the SAS get the candy coated variety........which is why they are bitching and moaning all the time........even a few that have quit recently have gone public complaining that even in A-stan, the American SF got most of the juicy ops because the MOD wasnt willing to risk SAS lives.......I guess you risk more when you have more to lose eh......
But it would be nice of they did a show in the US called "Navy SEALS: Are you tough enough?".......only one problem: IF they actually did it like real selection than its likely non of the contestants would even finish and that some would have serious health problems.......

Didn't know about that. But the soldiers themselves didn't look very special to me. I mean there was one Seal guy that acted like a 15-year-old, a bloke from a team is sent home because he had a broken leg and the team almost collapses. I don't think that the show portrays the true US spec ops community.

Anyone remember the show (on fox i think) "Bootcamp" now that was a giant load of crap there. I tried to watch it but couldn't listen to such a high concentration of whining all at once.....

It's good to see that the SAS is providing you with intelligence reports about their activities over the course of these current conflicts.
Personally you should go over to the UK and tell them exactly what they are doing wrong, infact you could bring some of your paint by numbers guide to spec ops.
Frankly there is not one person on this board that is involved with the SAS and most likely there isn't a terrible amount of people here that deal with them.
Comparing units is old news and fairly boring, though it is f*cking lame when kiddies that have no operational experience or any security clearance talk about where forces are currently located.
Dip ****.

This is the show that the ex-SEAL that got killed in Iraq while working for Blackwater was on.

Found it! I remember reading something regarding this a while back... According to this post from a paintball company in the UK, they used M4 RAMS on the show:
