Jenin Arabs Say New Houses Too Small; Attack UN Builders

Terrorists in the PA-controlled town of Jenin opened fire inside of the local United Nations office, leading the UN to stop the rebuilding of homes in the Jenin slums that were damaged during the IDF’s 2002 anti-terror Operation ‘Defensive Shield’.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency was in the process of building the new houses, after receiving a $27 million contribution from the Persian Gulf Emirates. Although the houses are much fancier and sturdier than the old houses, they are 15 percent smaller – to allow IDF tanks to pass through the narrow streets with ease. Much of the damage to homes in the Jenin slums was caused by ****y-traps planted by terrorists, as well as IDF tanks forced to squeeze through small alleyways.

UNRWA's spokesman in Judea and Samaria said that five Arab gunmen approached UNWRA offices and fired at the building last Wednesday before entering the offices and firing shots into the rooms. He said that the shooters were members of families unhappy with the size of their new houses and, armed with M-16 assault rifles demanded that UNWRA build them larger houses.

One of the gunmen complained that the 500-square-foot apartment he had been given was too small for he and his wife. "When we have children this apartment will be too small," he reportedly told the UN staff.

The clerks, contractors and planners working in the UNRWA offices promptly halted building until they can guarantee their security.

In this case, it seems the reason the Palestinians are bitching is because their homes are being made less likely to be crushed by Israeli tanks, at the expense of size. The Palestinians' reason for bitching is not to protest a smaller home, but that they would have less future reason for complaining and fighting. This is because their entire social/economic/political ifrastructure is based on their war against the Israelis. Maybe if they developed a different way of life, one less dependant on bitching at the Israelis, they would be happier; instead of a slightly bigger house. Their complaint is over a tiny amount in reality- 90 square feet. My patio is bigger than that.

Here is a little background over Palestinian cities. Here is the picture of Jenin .
1)Notice that the guys defenetly against the idea of paved roads . It's originating from the fact that thecity council is too lasy for once , and second , everyone is building where he wants.
2)Ussually people try to construct cities on flat terrain . Not for us . We like it hilly and impossible for cars passing . But sence 70 percent of the cars are anyway stollen from Israel , who cares ...
3)It's not seen good in the picture , but the passages between houses requier some serious driving skills . As I said , city council do not give a **** , and everybody builds what he wants , and where he wants . That means , everybody build huge houses , and leaving the outside street in serious mess .Stuff like pave roads , road walkings , and the fact that the widht of a street between 2 houses should be possible for car passing is foreign there ... Something got to do with Muslim culture , they value house a lot , an the bigger the house is better , and who gives a **** if the street looks like mideavell nightmare . In this sence , the house building methods didn't changed from the 16 century .
4)And this picture is not of Jenin refugee camp , it's of Jenin city .
