Anyone here familiar with Winchester's lever-action .22 rifle? It's a discontinued design, but my buddy found one in his father's basement, after he passed away. The thing is still in its box, never been fired, and is a beautiful piece. I've read good reviews for this rifle, but was wondering if anyone here had first-hand experience. Also, more important, what should I offer him for it?? I have no idea what one of these is worth.
Thanks in advance.

I've fired one before, nice little rifle. I looked it up in my Gun Traders Guide, it's a couple of years old but it ought to give you some idea...

Thanks a lot CJ! Looks like I'll be getting a lever-action .22 -- will sure be cheaper to plink with than the .44 Mag, with the cost of shells these days. Sweet. Next up will be a Colt Single Action Army revolver... Man, am I ever stuck in the past. Heh.

We had one in 22 magnum, and it was a great rifle until it got stolen :(

A little heavy from memory, but are fetching upwards of $500 here second hand.

I once managed to shoot a wild dog at night at about 200metres with a spotlight. i found it would easily take out most game here with the exception of bigger animals such as goats, bigger pigs etc.

I found the Winchester supreme was a good round in 22 mag, light at 34gr, but dynamite on small game.

Either way, it wouldn't be a bad decision if you decided to keep it.
