Son of bin Laden seeking asylum in Spain, officials say
By Daniel Woolls, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
MADRID, Spain - A son of Osama bin Laden, who grabbed the headlines when he married a British woman last year, has flown to Spain and requested asylum.
The Spanish government says 27-year-old Omar Osama bin Laden arrived in Madrid on Monday on a flight from Cairo and Casablanca, Morocco. Officials say the younger bin Laden, a metals trader who had been living with his wife in Cairo, Egypt, was travelling on a Saudi passport.
He remained at the airport Tuesday while the Spanish Interior Ministry considers his request for asylum.
Omar Osama bin Laden has not renounced his father, but has said he wants to be an "ambassador for peace" between the Muslim world and the West.

He is obviously not a terrorist, and definitely not in an easy position. Before you mock him put yourselves in his shoes.

He is probably saying that BS about "peace" so he can get asylum.
Why does he want asylum any way? From what?

"Omar Osama bin Laden has not renounced his father"
That to me is the reason we should not let this guy in to any country. It is difficult to renounce a member of your family...but for what his father has done..??? Give me a break. How can one justify what his father's path is or has done to many innocent lives.
Terror can never justify the means. By not renouncing his father, is like him saying,,,,I may not agree with what he did,,,but he had a goal in mind..????
If Bin Laden kid came to my country, I would have a special car to pick him up and he can stay in our jail till he renounces his father or Bin Laden is captured.

Very true, I prefer to be in his Armani shoes rather than in the sandals of a rachitic African boy.

I imagine that he is marked for death, and probably MI 5 never leaves him alone in the UK. It's not much fun being under surveillance constantly, and having your phone tapped, and calls diverted, email delayed etc. Seeing a car across the road with two dudes pretending to read the paper, or ducking behind shelves when you are going shopping, interviewing your neighbours about what you do.
As for being marked for death, we see what happens to people who defy their families by wearing western clothes or going out with infidel boys. I imagine that not joining the world jihad that your father is leading is a far worse crime.
Oh there was a query previously raised that I may have misled our readers by referring to MI5

That's who I mean, lest there be any misunderstanding.
It is a very difficult position for him to be in. Your own father involved in this, many others around you supporting him. What he does or does not do who can say - but he needs to be given the chance to do the right thing, and maybe Spain will give him that chance.
Still - would keep an eye on him, Al Taqiya and all that.
Macs.

Bin Laden is a big family, don't forget all those Bin Ladens who got a fast way out of the US after 9/11.
Also, Osama Bin Laden's niece got some... glamour shots of herself done:

Definitely. Tell him we'd let him in if he told us what Bin Laden's current address is. Spain can't let him in for nothing.

Spanish gov should think about give him a chance. If he's the hippie that he says to be there is nothing to worry about, if not, he could be a useful for the spanish intelligence service. It's much better if he is under surveillance of a NATO country than if he is living on other country...

Why does he want asylum any way? From what?Perhaps the good life being with his woman might seem more appealing than living in caves with stinky men drinking sour goat milk.
Can ya blame him for heading 1st world?

Osama bin Laden's son Omar loses his bid for asylum in Spain
By Jorge Sainz, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
MADRID, Spain - Spain rejected an asylum request from a son of Osama bin Laden on Wednesday after deciding he had not met the conditions necessary for him to remain.
Omar Osama bin Laden, 27, flew to Spain earlier this week and remains in a transit area at Madrid's Barajas Airport, an Interior Ministry official said. He has 24 hours to appeal the government's decision.
"The Interior Ministry has not accepted the request for asylum because this does not meet the conditions necessary for entering Spain," the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with government policy.
The official would not elaborate or discuss the younger bin Laden's reasons for seeking asylum.

If he wants to be an ambassador of peace, I think he should have a website first called omarbinladen for peace dot com so we can see what his views are.
